Ngl I had an idea for a game that if New Blood made it with there talent... they would hit it out of the park. However I know no one would care and I'm not a developer so... yeah lol Also love this video it was HIGHLY Informative to my curiosity. Thank you for taking the time to make it !

U know what I'm gonna share it for anyone who is a developer why not. Basically Original Resident Evil 4 style gameplay and graphics but Cyberpunk. It's set on the slums of a city think of it like... a Cyberpunk style Venice crossed with New York. Long story short an EMP goes off in the city this messes with everyone who has implants and well they all go crazy with the exception of the MC and your goal is to get out of the city (maybe there's a love interest or a band of survivors who knows) but new guns have tech in em and do to EMP stuff doesn't work and that leaves old guns from the 21st or 20th century. The ending could be changed to whatever u want but in my head they or just the MC escapes in a boat.

I love this game. Best 4x hands down. The order system is game changing and solves to the grind factor in the late game that other 4x just don't.

It might be the best out there, but I still clamor for more diverse play styles. Expansionism into a points victory is the only way to win at higher difficulty levels and that puts it a step below Civ VI for me, even though it is superior in other ways.

Firaxis should remake this remarkable game again with modern graphics with the same factions, whose personalities and different values made this game so very special.

This game looks better when played on intended resolution. The demo video has weird zoom-in and three times wider monitor than people used to have.

I’ve not yet played Alpha Centauri, but I want to - especially after watching this video. As much as a fan of sandbox strategy like Civ as I am, I love the idea of that but with a story to tell too. I will say however that I do really like Beyond Earth. Not saying it’s better than Alpha Centauri (especially since I haven’t played it yet and can’t compare) - but I still like it a lot and enjoy playing it. They are different games, and I hope we can stop with the comparisons and have peace between fans of both games.

There are community patches that make the game more modernity-friendly (UI scaling) and slightly improve AI. Worth checking out.

Beyond Earth was my first Civ and I still hold it near and dear to my heart. Going into it without the expectation that it would be Alpha Centauri 2.0 - with no expectations at all really - I had a much better time with it than many. The sci-fi setting and branching techtree was way more interesting to me than the linear retelling of history other Civ games provided. But even back then, 12 years ago, the cries of dissappointment intrigued me. If I alreadly loved BE so much, how much more would I love that game everyone else seemed dissappointed that BE wasn't? What was that mysterious Alpha Centauri everybody loves like? And now that BE of all games is having a surprising resurgence, I wonder again, is it finally time for me to get its much beloved predecessor? Now that I earn my own money, now that I can buy my own games. Your video might just be the push to finally give it a try.

Considering getting this on sale. Thinking of getting this and 3 of the expansions. The ones that add events. I am a sandbox person. I think it would be $35 usd total. Love Crusader Kings 3 and enjoy Civ. Any advice? Should I pull the trigger or just play CK3? Btw I have a degree in history to add to info. Thanks for any advice/tips and for the video

Hey sorry I am late If you want no family management and court intrigue at all but only 4X : Civ If you want it balanced (family+4X) and don't care about the graphics of your characters : Old World If you care about graphics, roleplay and the depth of the characters : CK3

I remember in 1999 when the demo of SMAC had come out in a local gaming magazine 's CD. I had installed it and was blown away. Previously there had been Civ 2 and some sci-fi mods for it. SMAC immediately had fealt as something serious in mankind 's future. A fictional future that's not cheesy or not about aliens. It was an instant classic. Still to this day the best 4x. Rainfall, terraforming, sea farmers, unit design system and so many other concepts that made it great. Unbelievable still today.
@TheMaginorАй бұрын
The Thinker mod improves the AI even more. I thought I was safe on my island, being able to pick off invading transports with planes, and then Miriam or Yang uses terraforming to build a land bridge and march a doomhorde of units over it! I also had Yang save one of his sea bases from my ship attacks by raising terrain and making it a land base.

Been playing since 99, well not every day or anything. Have built a few factions of my own and done a lot of tinkering with the files. It's an amazing game that only gets better as you peel away the layers.. within layers.

@snaphaan5049Ай бұрын
Okay, you did make a good argument. Maybe I should give it another go. It's a great game ... on paper. But playing it is a draaaaag. Part of it might be all the events but the real BIG issue is you play the same tech for basically the whole game. So that means there is nothing "entertaining" or "fun" to aim toward except number crunching and gaining territory. Sure, there is research but it's all happening in the back of the engine.
@adzi616418 күн бұрын
tech in 4X games is ultimately just mostly about rising numbers (which exceptions of techs that allows you to do completely new things - but majority of these are present in non-modern techs, anyway). Just because it doesn't become looking more and more modern, doesn't mean Old World's tech doesn't count.
@jyutzler8 күн бұрын
@@adzi6164 There is some tech but you barely get to use it. If it is advantageous for you to get into a late-game war, then you probably have the game won already. It's just a "win faster" situation, except it take longer in real time to manage armies. If the AI snowballs before you do, all the tech in the game won't matter.

I bought it a couple of years ago on steam, after stealing a CD years ago and playing it, not realizing it wasn't ours lol. Absolutely amazing, on par with Dune for how it looks at the possibility of humanity in bringing about its own destruction or salvation (barring the aliens in AC, but humanity still had to put in the work to make it right).

Ya know what, I've still got the install CDs for SMAC. It's Friday night, and my chores are done. I ... I think my weekend has just been firmly booked. Either Miriam and her stern Believers, or Morgan & his wacky an-caps need my help!

Really underselling the philosophical and ideological content here. SMAC stands out in the field with few others for its depth in these areas.
@MrSlowestD162 ай бұрын
Been wanting to play this for so long, I even have the original CD for it somewhere. But I've always felt like turn-based is a slog having grown up on RTS like AoE and original StarCraft, so I generally shy away from turn based. But always wanted to do a playthrough. This definitely nudges me more in that direction.
