Piccolo really sacrificed the Dragon Balls here because he didn't want Gohan dying, but literally all that dying would do is stop Gohan from training with King Kai. I'm willing to forgive Piccolo for this because this is arguably King Kai's fault entirely for not being a better communicator, despite his telepathy. Still not as bad as leaking the info about the Dragon Balls, though.

You could argue that taking Gohan is more lawful evil. He's not a normal Namek he's a mutant, probably sterile, programmed to hate Goku and take over the world. He is just defaulting to his programming and ensuring the Piccolo Daimao dynasty continues through Gohan. That also assumes he does not understand human lifespans.

Small correction: Piccolo Jr. was 8 at the beginning of the Saiyan arc. Not 7.

Piccolo Jr is my favorite character, both in the main canon and in DBZA, and I honestly love his growth in both to become one of the most solid members of the Z Fighters as both a fighter and just a good guy. In DBZA it helps that he consistently got some of the funniest running gags or other jokes. Nail and Kami will forever just be awesome, and Dodge was so good that they made two shirts out of it (With Piccolo's long overdue special transformation being one) but made a great song parody XD

Piccolo is my favorite DBZ character and the Abridged series is like half of the reason.

I'd wager true neutral. His only motivation nowadays is to just mediate. Before that it was to just avenge his father, no real end goal beyond that. He's definitely not a good guy either, he allowed the entire Earth population to be sacrificed as a plaything for Buu to buy some time. Yes, they can wish them back. Death is still very traumatic in my book. No real alignment or allegiance, no real motivation. He's just living his life being an uncle. He's not against doing immoral deeds either. He stands on the good guy side mostly because the implications of them losing is far worse than just being neutral and idle, so it's more like he's contributing for his interests mostly.

Technically Goku would be neutral evil. I know people like to look at someones accomplishments, and go. Look at all this things he's done. he has to be a great guy. But they never ask the question of why he did those things. There is a reason goku almost got his universe deleted, and done so completely carelessly and thoughtlessly. Goku is a moron that only ever thinks about himself most of time. He fights for the sake of fighting. The plot going on in the background is completely meaningless to him. You can reason Goku with the same reasoning you could with almost any other villain to get them on your side for that particular moment. The group is inconsequential in the eyes of goku.

I'm saying this not out of malice, but out of wanting to spread the correct information. The Dead Zone movie can't happen for one main reason: the gang knows about Gohan's existence thanks to the events of the movie. In the series proper, they all are shocked that Goku had a kid right before Raditz arrives. Because the Dead Zone movie revolves around saving Gohan from Garlic Jr. and because Goku tells his friends that he needs to rescue his son, this means that they shouldn't be surprised when he shows up to Kame House with Gohan. Also, I'm pretty sure that Dead Zone happens less than a year before Raditz shows up, meaning that the balls would be inactive. It's possible that I remember that incorrectly, but I'm 90% that I'm right on this.

It's almost like Nail and Kami lied to Piccolo. Once we get to Majin Buu arc, Picvolo's personality is almost entirely gone and he's acting more like an ex-Kami than anything else.

I'd give him +1 chaotic neutral for abusing a forbidden technique to make himself stronger and saving Nail in the process.

I think the primary problem here is expecting Twitter to be rational. Expecting Twitter to be rational is like expecting gravity to not exist. In a matter of fact I think there was two or three or four modes of Twitter existing: one being irrationally angry about something, 2 trying to find something to be angry about, 3 being low-key horny, and 4 just okay shitposting. I mean come on, I see more emotional maturity from Toddlers than from Twitter.

It’s honestly funny how TFS managed to start Piccolo’s evil stuff as a joke, but then turned it into a version of the character I actually prefer to the real series. Like adding Nail and Kami to his inner monologue, then also focusing more on the idea he’s protecting his friends after being a total loner for years are both really fun changes. Like he still clearly wants to be cold to everyone but he falls into the trope of “the loner realizes he’s not alone anymore.”

God, Piccolo is just one of their best. He's a snarky, grounded asshole who is quick to call out everyone on their bullshit and is just a solid guy. Also, having Kami and Nail in his head to talk to made for some absolutely - and literally - rib-breaking comedy that got me through some of my darkest days back in college. No joke, I actually had to have x-rays when I was attending university because I was laughing when I had hairline fractures in four of my ribs that I didn't know about that I got from a sparring match. I later laughed so hard from watching DBZA in my apartment that that it caused two of those four hairline fractures to result in a complete break. My misadventures aside, Piccolo's personality in DBZA was easily my favorite, just edging out Tien and Mister Perfect Cell.
