In the first reaction can we say that ammonium chloride and sodium hydroxide are formed?
@georgesmith9437
@georgesmith9437 7 ай бұрын
You could say that ammonium & bicarbonate ions are formed in the first reaction. Then bicarbonate ions react with sodium ions to form the sodium bicarbonate precipitate.

@@georgesmith9437 first reaction ammonium hydroxide and sodium chloride 🤔

@ajingolk7716 The double replacement reaction you are suggesting would not occur. It would require the formation of a precipitate. Ammonium chloride and sodium hydroxide are both aqueous solutions and therefore the double replacement reaction of ammonium hydroxide and sodium chloride would not occur.

@@georgesmith9437 so we have ions swiming in solution, ammonium chloride dissolves in some solvent badly where sodium hydroxide dissolves well but any way thank for replaying to me i apreciate that. I have another reaction if you can help me out with 🙏 can potassium sulfate or sodium sulfate react with calcium carbonate?

Is there a problem with adding water in the NaCl + NH4O4 reaction?
@georgesmith9437
@georgesmith9437 Жыл бұрын
Yes. Sodium bicarbonate is moderately soluble in water at about 10g/100ml at room temperature. Adding water will cause a loss in product that can be collected by filtering due to its solubility in water.

6:56 isn't the "system" supposed to be 254.83g ? sorry i am confused.

same here, it just changed into 254.84g

At 1:39 in the video it was stated that the Open System had an original mass of 254.83g (which is +/- 0.01). At 6:56 it states the original mass of the Open System was 254.84g but either measurement would work fine. You could use 254.83g in your calculations. Sorry for the confusion. The final mass of the Open System after CO2 was produced and lost to the surroundings is 254.36g
