Thanks for that quick reply. And in case of a Cat A takeoff (which I also have seen described as a PC1 takeoff, perhaps that is a European thing....?) imagine lift off into the wind but your destination lies behind you. Would it be appropriate to stop gaining altitude and rotate towards your destination or continue gaining altitude while you rotate?
@Shipmeck
@Shipmeck Ай бұрын
Forward into the wind until you reach Vtoss then turn on course. The idea is to get it above single engine speed so that if you loose an engine you can fly away. If you turn away from the wind you are creating a dangerous situation where if you loose an engine you have a tail wind and have to accelerate to match the wind and then on to single engine speed to fly away
@martin_b9130
@martin_b9130 Ай бұрын
This is very usefull, thank you Shipmeck! I have many questions still: can you for instance while taking off make a turn whilst still below Vtoss? And if so, would you use the torque pedals for that turn and the cyclic or a regular coordinated turn? Or is turning below Vtoss not advisible? By the way, Vtoss equals Vx? Is that correct?
@Shipmeck
@Shipmeck Ай бұрын
The C2 manual stated to "avoid steep right turns below 45 kias close to the ground to maintain sufficient lateral control margin for recovery". This flight characteristic warning is not present in the D2 manual which is curious since they have the same main rotor system. So it would seem that turns are allowable below VTOSS so pedals should be used to maintain aircraft in trim. VTOSS = Vx for this aircraft. I'm not sure if that's always the case or if it is just something airbus has chosen to define.

Great video. Just bought the H145 a couple of days ago, having almost not flown the ASOBO default helicopters at all. So I’m really new to helicopters in MSFS and I really enjoy learning something new. Do the H145 pilots fly this thing with assist or no assist? I started flying it without the assist/ autopilot. Very difficult but it’s getting better. Keep up the good work
@Shipmeck

Always with assist. Real pilots have very little interest in proving their superior airmanship skills at the expense of their life

well done. Sir. Unfortunately the H160 does not know how to fly an RNAV LNAV+VNAV either. Not the offical version 48 , not the much applauded revisiòn 78 . You still have to "dive" into the FAF "like no ones bussisnes" wich is nonsense if the RNAV is more complex and winding road to stay away from obstacles..... pointed out months ago.... The GS is supposed to pull you down ..... at that 2500 ft crossing....and signal it from far, far away from it ( dot at the top wich you awaited too )

Hi @Shipmeck. Great video. Seems there is no clutch on H145 between engines and rotors. Does it mean that when the second engine is started, the power turbine is already spinning ?
@Shipmeck
@Shipmeck Ай бұрын
There is a sprag clutch in the transmission, that disengages when the transmission spins faster than the input shaft. When the 2nd engine is started and the power turbine reaches the speed of the transmission, the sprag clutch starts to engage and providing torque.

Your controller was probably a bit taken back by your hover taxi request, they're not used to that and it's good to see more doing it to give them more of an immersive experience. Also, you were 100% in the right on landing, the instructions he gave would've interpreted to exactly how you came in using Bravo as your taxiway. ATC on Vatsim need to touch up on their helicopter skills. We matter just as much as any other aircraft on the network.
