Just caught up with this interview. First thank you. The book is my pick for our book club this Wed. And though our group is made up of Jewish woman the stories are very similar. Wish my grandmother who worked in sewing factories and told me more. But what a strong woman she was and so was my mother. And my own daughter is also a strong woman.

They had them at home because most people were poor and didn't have $. But yes there were food!!!! It is still called a wake, I believe, from it look like they were sleeping and waiting for them to 'wake ' up.

Agreed...I had the pleasure of visiting the museum and being familiar with the story, but so many people who will not be able to visit can now see it.
