This does fit with my psc big bore box. But it does take a little modifying nothing crazy. Anyone who knows how to work on things and build things can easily do it. I'll try to explain what i did. To start with the psc box i have is the one they sell for a Cherokee their big bore box it has 4 mounting holes instead of 3. My Cherokee is heavily modified i strengthened the entire unibody much more than standard stiffeners. So i did plating inside and out on the unibody so my mounting for the box could be differently spaced than yours but when i installed the plating and box i spaced the box out just as far as it needed to be and no more i wanted to keep it close to the frame because i knew I'd be running this brace i had to grind a little pocket in my plating as well to get the box closer to the frame, you'll notice the unibody already has a little divet to accommodate the steering box but thay goes away when you add inside plating and most companies that make those kits space the box out further but i used my own spacers welded to the plating and everything to get it as tight as possible. All of this explanation on how i mounted my psc box may not apply to you and you dont need to use the 4th mounting hole it bolts up like stock using 3 but there are kits to convert the Cherokee to the 4 bolt like TNT makes a kit. I made my own setup to use the 4th bolt. . I was still surprised that there was enough wiggle room to fit side to side. My first thing I ran into and really the main thing was the clamp hits the webbing part of the steering box casting so you can't bolt it down all the way. How i remedied this was with a carbide burr on a die grinder i shaved the casting slightly on the box i didn't take much just a little maybe a 1/16th then i also had to shave the clamp halves in the right locations but again it didn't take much the most i took was 1/8th but mostly had to knock down edges. Also the clamp half on the front side of the brace needed some shaved off the end above the bolt where it was contacting one of the mounting bosses on the steering box. Then the little mounting ear on the main brace for the clamp on the driver side needed the corner shaved off because it was contacting the same mounting boss. Other than that everything fit surprisingly well with how modified this jeep is. I had to mock it up and remove it like 8 or 10 times because I was removing very little material from the clamp edges and the steering box webbing. My conclusion is that it fits just fine with the psc big bore box but i also took time to mount my box as close to the frame as possible and i am nearly at the far side of the slots in the brace but there was enough room i was thinking i may have to open up the slots more but i didn't have to its a really well thought out kit because these Cherokee unibodys can move a lot especially with abuse. I wasn't scared off by modifying it i was expecting to possibly have to do a lot more and it was really simple i barely removed any material its mostly knocking down edges its a very tight fit. I also had my pitman arm removed and that helped a little mocking it up i would suggest removing the pitman arm if you have to do it like i did with the psc box because I would have the clamp halves together when installing for mock up and moving up and down. Its possible without removing the pitman arm but i found it easier. Then my last thing I ran into which wasn't much was you need an extra deep 1-1/2" socket, i have a lot of big sockets and only one i had barely fit but that one was so beefy it didn't fit through the hole of the bearing bracket. 38mm sockets fit too none of my multiple deep sockets of the right size fit so i ended up removing the bearing bracket and using a big box end wrench then I had to finagle that one bolt back in. Also a 3/8 12 point ratcheting wrench easily fits on that hard to get at bolt. You can order an extra deep 1-1/2 socket on Amazon for about 30 dollars thats what I'm going to do so i have it. If you put extra deep in your search you'll find a couple options. But anyways the brace does fit a psc big bore box on a Cherokee. It takes maybe 3 hours and some test fitting to complete while taking my time. I think its very important to have something like this as well as a track bar brace. The front unibody crossmember under the radiator can actually buckle and then you get all sorts of movement up front. You can also find plating to weld onto that crossmember like i did but this steering brace and a track bar brace are adequate. Its especially important if your doing heavy winching and you don't have the most rigid bumper.

I installed mine with the psc big bore box it took a little modifying slightly but it fits. I wrote a long comment explaining my install it should be one of the newest on this video. Let me know if you have any questions. I believe psc makes 2 boxes the big bore which is the large one with the problems then a smaller one that I think is more like stock size wise.

I did the very swap you did back in about 2006 using a 2004 TJ 4.0 and swapping it into a 1988 XJ. It was a formidable task. I ran into the motor mount problem (a big surprise!) and did a hack and drill solution by drilling new bolt holes about an inch or two closer to the engine. It still works but I am not too happy about it. I hope you still have some fabricated mounts to sell! But the biggest problem was integrating the wiring harnesses...the TJ harness that goes into the cab had to be cut up and spliced in many places. I had to install a 2004 TJ instrument cluster, of course as well as the obd2 plug under the dash. It's still kind of a mess. You did not mention the wiring issue so I have to ask: did the 2000 XJ harness pretty much plug into the TJ harness? If so I think I will look for a 2000/2001 XJ under dash harness and see if I can clean up the wiring. Thanks!

I need to replace my gearbox so now's the time to install this steering brace and gearbox brace. Does anyone have recommendations for gearboxes. Seems like the rebuilt ones from Redhead and Bluetop have too many negative reviews and AGR went down the tubes. PCS is still making great boxes but that's $1100 that is hard to justify since I'm not building that level of hard core Jeep.

Will this fit on a stock height 96 grand Cherokee limited? I bought this jeep for my daughter and have replaced every suspension and steering component and she still complains it's hard to keep it straight in the lane on the highway especially with one hand. I feel the dead space in the steering wheel back and forth but doesn't bother me. I'm at the point of selling it!

Just installed mine on a 98 2wd to 4wd conversion. Everything fit beautifully and anyone with a half dozen tools and an impact can install it in under 1.5 hours (much less time if you're not on your back in the driveway like I was). This video is great and perfectly summarizes how the install will go, and it all should go just like he shows here. My only knock is I wish Andy had shown how the sway bar brackets fit, as most of us plebs don't have antirock and that was the only piece I was unsure of. When you look at the sway bar drop brackets you will notice that one end of the bracket has a crescent shaped cut to it rather than the straight edge that's on all the other edges of the bracket. That crescent cut part should point toward the rear of the jeep and allows clearance for the third bolt that holds the main brace to the un. You'll know what I'm talking about when you're under there. Just know that if you put the crescent cut end anywhere else, that third bolt won't clear the bracket, and instead will get stuck on it and not suck all the way down against the main brace segment.

Great video, I thoroughly enjoyed it and your humor! It also learned me some sheeee.it. However I do need to correct you on one thing. When making a anti-wrap bar for a 4x4 application where articulation is the main priority. You want to mount the anti-wrap bar as close to the center of the axle as possible. not out at the axle end like you inclined. - Also I wonder if I can use my HP Tuners software to tune out all the nasty Auto-trans issues with the PCM...? hmmm
