What is the name of this movie? Can you upload it in full? Thanks
@chadomwatkins11 күн бұрын
This is all there is. It is not a movie but a short video clinic that was broadcast in the middle of a Lehigh wrestling match after half the matches completed. They would do a new clinic for every match, so there were other clinic videos imbedded in other Lehigh matches but I do not have them. the broadcasts were on PBS39 A public television station owned and operated by the Lehigh Valley Public Telecommunications Corporation. Maybe they have an archive?

@hondaphan4172 John Barna was possibly sick is what my dad told me, my dad wrestled him in the 1982 semi finals and lost by 1 point because he didn't want to go into OT with him. He let him up with 30 seconds left and couldn't take him down and now he lives with regret because of that, but got the job done the year after in 1983 with the Flu. John Barna never went easy on my dad too since he always held a grudge when my dad beat his brother, Mike Barna his first year wrestling when Mike was already a state champion in middle school. My dad used to tell me it was like wrestling a demon and till this day, still thinks John Barna is one of the greatest HS wrestlers because of how aggressive he was to my dad and his top wrestling. John Barna would take you to hell and back on the top position was what my dad told me. John Barna was so angry that his brother lost to my dad since it was my dads first year wrestling and Mike as I said, was a state champion already. John Barna basically tech falled my dad and both of them walked off the mat crying. My dad crying because he lost and John Barna because he couldn't pin my dad. My dad also beat Frank earlier in the season in 1982 and Frank also commented on how great my dad was in Hs on facebook of the video I made of my dad. Look up Change (80's Wrestling) and you can find it (Not on this yt account). No footage of John Barna on that video, Although I have it. There are soo many stories I could tell about my dad and John Barna. There is even one where John Barna threw Glenn Hall who was a state champion and runner up later in HS in a locker and locked him in. Im not sure but my dad probably had to get him out 😂. The problem with my dad was that he was always intimated by John Barna since he was a 3 time state champion. When he was wrestling John in the semi finals he had a huge comeback, my dad finally believed that he could beat John and wasn't intimated. He finally had John but sadly couldn't pull through, the crowd was absolutely amped up because of a possible upset. My dad ended his HS career off 100-9 with 5 losses being to John Barna. Even though John held a grudge against my dad, my dad congratulated him and shared a few words with John after he won his 3rd title. Maybe John forgave my dad , he never told me.

I did use "my dad" a lot , his name was Dan Moody and was from Voorhees. (1980-83)
@hondaphan41727 ай бұрын
@@duck4484 I remember your dad, at least the name, as I was at Holmdel HS in '82 when we beat Elmwood Park in the state semi's and then lost 39-27 to Voorhees in the finals. The match was tied at 27 heading into the last two weights but I knew we were in trouble at that point since the Voorhees HWT was eventual state champ Lee Getz. Your dad pinned Steve Pennington who was no slouch as he finished 3rd in Region 8 several weeks later. Against the majority of teams we faced that year we were up at least 15-0 after the first three weight classes as we had Mike Smith at 101 and Frank Smith at 115....and of course Steve Pennington at 108. Mike and Frank destroyed their Voorhees opponents but your dad pinned Pennington so we were only up 12-6 after three bouts and that was a major factor why Voorhees beat us. What I do remember about your dad that day was he was a very physical wrestler and it was seldom for us to see Pennington getting thrown around like that.
@duck44847 ай бұрын
@@hondaphan4172 If you watch the video I made, do you think there is anybody from Pennsville in it? Its hard to tell because of the video quality but that was the 80's for you and it was also all at Voorhees under the light. I probably have the footage of those matches but didn't include them. Change (80's Wrestling) If you wanna check it out.
@hondaphan41727 ай бұрын
@@duck4484 I'll have to check out your video. In '80 our 129lber Jim Ecret was named the Region 8 MOW when he knocked off Overbrook Regional's Steve Dottolli, Kingsway's Brian Yates, and then finally Paulsboro's Nick Burzicelli in the finals. The following week at States Jim came down with a bad flu and lost in the first round to Camden Catholic's Kona(can't remember his first name) which was very disappointing since I seem to remember him beating Kona in a close match in our dual meet against them. Burzicelli went on to finish 3rd at States. That '80 Paulsboro team was freakin' loaded. In regards to Frank Smith, he was absolutely phenomenal on his feet during his entire senior year and much of it was due to him entering a ton of freestyle tournaments in the off-season. He was a marvel to watch while on his feet as he made it look too easy. His problem against Barna was his desire to not only beat him but to humiliate him and that's why he was still attacking at the end instead of being smart and shifting into defensive mode. It was a real kick in the nads when I heard how he lost that match the following day from friends who were there.

I thoroughly enjoyed this video. I actually don't know David Boyle personally, but I saw him wrestle both in high school in Alaska and college in Oregon a number of times. And there is a video here in KZbin with David in the 1983 Alaska State Wrestling Championships where he won one of his state titles at the 126 pound weight class (kzbin.info/www/bejne/mmWzgXeNptqhrbM&ab_channel=1983AlaskaWrestlingStateChampionship). Mr. Boyle was one of the great Alaska wrestlers of the 1980s to be sure. I also enjoyed seeing Oregon State University Wrestling Coach Dale Thomas in this video. A study of Coach Thomas' life provides a panoramic picture of 20th Century American wrestling from Iowa to the West Coast. What a story is Coach Thomas.
