Honestly? I'm not sure what to make of it. I know the meaning and intention behind what happened, but I feel they could have conveyed it better to the audience/player. I'm holding out my true judgement until we see how part 3 starts and if they recap or go over anything to clarify what happened. But for what we have I think it's okay, just could have been handled a little better. It's clear Sephiroth cheated. And not just by denying the new timeline Cloud created when he managed to save Aerith, but when he dragged Cloud through the lifestream and showed him all those images. He said, "You need a little more push." He did more to break him this time, which is why Aerith let Cloud see her, to ease him a little, otherwise he'd break down much sooner and it'd damage the timeline. Aerith really is there for Cloud which is why Nanaki could sense her.

@@kirara2516 i really like your analysis. i too am holding out for part 3. square has a pretty solid track record of tying up big loose ends and let's be honest it doesn't get bigger in final fantasy vii than the topic of aerith's death. i guess you could say i'm optimistic about the direction it's heading towards. on a totally different note, did you cry your eyes during chapter 14 (especially at the opening)?

@@kirara2516 that one generated tears from me as well, especially the part where he finds her in the rubble of the burned down corel town. but man, i had to press pause for 15 minutes immediately after aerith said to cloud "whatever happens, don't blame yourself." 😭😭😭 final fantasy is back for me!
