3/19 was the last time I laid eyes on both Jerry and Phil. Being part of that electric crowd response for Unbroken Chain is a memory I cherish.

it’s dumb how many guitarists I’ve spoken to thru the years who have never spent time with the fundamentals of rhythm-and it’s always noticeable

Totally agree. I’ve been a fan of this song since 2003 when a fellow submariner taught me this song under the ocean on a submarine in the middle of nowhere in the Pacific Ocean. I’ve always loved Bob’s version until I heard Billy’s version. It’s incredible to hear Billy’s genius version of a song that was written by a genius, his senior… Mr Bob Dylan. Much respect to both.

I was at the 3/17 and 3/19 shows at The Spectrum in 1995. The last song of the 1st set on 3/19 got the most insane, incredible, unbelievable, heartfelt audience response anyone has ever heard, anywhere at any time. I was also fortunate to be at the 9/3/88 "Ripple" show at the Cap Center in Landover, Md. And that had me floating on air for hours after in the parking lot. But the "Unbroken Chain" show was something different. I was in the Phil Zone on the first level and after the song I made my way down to the floor, and grabbed a spot next to the soundboard. And who was right there? Candace Brightman, The Dead's Lighting Director! She said to me "Wasn't that something?" I managed a "Yeah, that was amazing", or something like that. We chatted for a few minutes and then she "had to get back to work". What a night.

I remember this being the very first KZbin Video I watched but it had to be around 2005-07. So I believe this is not the complete original upload. But still thanks for sharing this small piece of history for me <3

I too was in HJ. Was a dwarf priest... i remember alot of good moments with this crew.. Gaara and urzhad were the tanks and were very good... things fell apart after he sold his account and members left. I think there was a guildbank issue too or something.. i dunno i left b4 that happened., but this WAS the guild on that server and they were great people.

I picked this song out of a book at random and asked my great aunt to play it on her pump organ for me when I was less than 10 years old. A little dark for a kid, but it's always stuck with me as a special song. And to hear Billy cover it, is soothing to my heart. Thank you!

2:00 he's completely wrong about vygotsky's theory. The zone of proximal development has nothing to do with music; it's a theory of learning. As a psychologist himself, pretty embarrassing that he doesn't know something they teach 2nd year undergrad students.
