These jobs are not rare, they happen daily somewhere in the world but the important thing is that there are rarely accidents because these people are professionals, not only preserving their own lives but in the quality work that they do.

We had a lot of fun climbing towers. It was a very cool job for 5 years. Than I got older and my knees went bad and a bit shaky. Loved the job we got to travel everywhere. We painted also with paint gloves on way down red and white on a few towers🗼. Never did a new install though. Replaced 🚨 lights and antennas mostly and did tower adjustments on ground also. Learned a lot from that job.

Holy crap, that was damn near worst case scenario. Guy was lucky he moved to the other side of the antenna before the bar came off, it looks kinda heavy and I'd imagine there would have been a decent injury if he had gotten hit by it coming down. That's a pretty big fuck up, luckily it worked out in the end. I've never been on one of those elevators that carry guys up the tower but I've heard they're pretty sketchy to ride. I guess they make sense though, you would spend half your work day just climbing up 1500' and if someone gets hurt, it's a long climb down. That whole heli lift would be intense to be on the install crew, you gotta have a good pilot to hold it steady long enough to get it bolted on decently. Cool video though, too bad it seems like the channel only has a couple.

This is a great video man! Did you have the camera on the ground sitting in a bees nest? Certain times in the footage it looks like there's bees flying around it.

How is the Gin Pole actually attached to the tower and how do you position it? Always wondered that. There are towers near where I live and I see crews maintaining them every once in awhile but I don't want to go up to them while they're working for obvious safety reasons. Thanks.
