Hope people are going to help the Manatees this winter…..It’s going to get pretty cold, hope they made it to the warm waters by the energy plant. Hopefully they are feeding them this year too. The numbers lost year to year have gone down since they have feed them…..

How careful do one need to be to swim in the springs of Florida, if there could be an alligator in it? I mean, if they can hide really well, how is it even possible to swim in the lakes?? - Sincerely a Dane. There's pretty much just leeches and pikes in the lakes here, so it sounds so interesting yet so terrifying to actually SWIM where alligators are only a few meters away. 😅😱🫣

The best method to test for gators is: if your in Florida, stick you 1st finger (either hand) in the water, wait 2 seconds, then bring it out. If your finger is wet - there are gators in that body of water - guaranteed!

As a Floridian I swim towards it to A. Establish dominance and B. To pet my lovely swamp puppy. Jokes aside I dont swim in the waters. we all have pools for a reason. I will however pet a gator on land or from a boat.

If you’re in Florida you’re in his home so you respect him and his home. Real Floridians have swam with gators our whole life and I ain’t never known anyone personally whose ever been fd with by a gator unless they was messing with them first
@chellenberg3 күн бұрын
You typically won't find them in the cold springs for long. The water is too cold for them to stay in in for long periods. They tend to be on the banks of down stream were it's warmer.
@joshyingling16 сағат бұрын
That's not how they work. Those gators live and hunt in those waters and it doesn't get warmer until you hit the gulf of Mexico. They get warm by laying on the bank in the sun. The water is 72 degrees all year long, it's not that cold

manatees must be so lucky to have no natural predators, a moose will literally kill you if it feels like it because it’s in an environment with a lot of predators
