"imaginary" numbers are much simpler to understand as a navigator (world is range and angle) rather than as an accountant (world is quantity). eg. If (-1) operation is rotation by 1 semicircle, then (-1)^(1/2) operation is rotation by 1/2 semicircle; (-1)^(2/3) operation is rotation by 2/3 of a semicircle, etc.

Thanks for your input. That is beyond the scope of the curriculum for the Algebra course that I teach, but I appreciate your thoughts on this.
