Thank you for sharing your experience with cut barbed wire. Dad and I just had a deer’s leg caught in our fence last week and we had to cut him out. Now, we need to reattach the cut barbed wire. This trick with the hammer was helpful. Thank you ❤❤❤

Great vid, great trick from pop! Keep honoring your parents!(Ex 20:12) One detail, we want to carry old wires cut to our metal recycling bin or, spare wires lot for future repairs, or, just don't cut them, leave them long. This will avoid accidents on animal feet, or on our blades while cutting grass or on someone's eyes. Carry your trash home. Thank you! Again great video!

Barb wire is expensive, stock uses it to scratch their backs and damage the fence and their hides, a barb will make no difference to whether stock is going through the fence. Plain wire 2.5mm (sorry we use real measurements here) is cheaper will do the job is easy to work with and can be hot wired. I have done fence work all my working life and not seen this trick, thank you.

Already unsure, this doesn't use chainsaws... hmm Secondly, I'm unsure of why use a hammer when I've got a fencing tool that is a hammer, cutter, and twists wire...oh also pulls nails. Hammers are for building structures... this seems unnecessarily complicated.

Excellent!! I'm needing to use long lengths of fencing wire to hold insulation up with a retrofit of a 200sqm steel frame tin shed. I was looking at using the 2 nail trick but I'd need to buy nails specifically for it. I can adapt this to join and tension single stand to get it just tight enough to prevent the insulation from slipping. I'm going to drill 6mm holes in the Z perlins and run the wire through and anchor both ends. This is great, saved me time and money!!

I use Goldenrod 405 strecher (painted hot pink), Channelock blue handle fencing pliers, a pair of Vice-grip pliers, hammer, hammer holster, steel fence post driver and a 4 wheeler to fix fence. The fence strechers new are colored such that they can be very hard to see when laying on the ground... I we paint them a color that makes them easier to see and keep up with.

As a old ranch hand and then rancher and the grandson of a rancher that was born on in 1911 and the ranch he passed on at 98 years of wisdom, what you did is cause a weak spot in your wire bud. If anything animal pushes into that fence it just breaks. Wire is strong straight as intended. A twist weakens the whole strand Good luck in the future with all your fencing work and keeping your cows home 😂

A trick I invented running posts by myself was to plant the end posts and pull a string pulled between them like normal. Then tie short string with a loop about two inches from the ground with a washer at the end as a plumb bob that can slide down the loop on the top string. Then I cut a stick 8 foot long and laid it on the ground next to the first post. Slid the plumb bob to the end of the stick and made a mark on the ground. Then moved on to the next one. and the next one and the next one, etc. At first I had to use post hole diggers but got a tractor with a three point hitch and an auger drill later on. The real fun was running horse fence line by myself. Me and my dog and my trusty come along. And a pouch full of wire nails, of course.
