I customized this select more and select less with shift-scroll up and shift-scroll down so I can click any face or vertex and start growing from here.

I will show better method- add single vertex (or merge all vertices) now extrude it to make perimeter, only straight lines. Add bevel modifier (vertex mode). change limit method to weight, now goto edit mode and assign weight for each vertex as per the curvature needed. After that apply screw modifier on it to revolve it. This is highly non destructive method that I used to make bottle models in bulk for 5 dollar gig.
