There are only two reasons why basements are not common in Texas. First, it is cheaper to build on a slab. Second, see reason number one.

so no basments but i can get a 10' deep swimming pool in the back yard....

In el paso texas in historic district! All the old homes that built before the 1960s but now no home is built with a basement unless you go to Horizon or East Lake or clint County of El paso because there isnt no restrictions!

How about an above grade lower level so you’ll have the basement feel..

The property I am trying to do this for does not have a subdivision name only numbers. I tried using the address, the expired mls number, I tried the help desk, nothing is working, please tell me why it is not searching for the property? Is there a button to connect that I am not aware of?

So basically, if you maintain your home you get penalized with higher taxes. If you let your house fall apart, it loses value but you pay less taxes. This is what property tax is a regressive tax that needs to go! Income tax is more equitable when done properly.

I am concerned that bcz my house is in disrepair it might be risky to protest my home appraisal. I have no insurance. My neighbors tree fell on my house but I didn’t discover until years later that I have a huge hole in the roof. Apparently I have several holes. My ceilings have to be replaced. The roof needs replacing. My f I take pictures am I risking the county condemning my home? I also discovered that I know longer have my home exemption. I’ve lived here 30 years but somehow my home exemption is no longer showing. Thanks.

Protest is an unfair nightmare…pay a company to fight it, they are usually former tax appraiser employees….also vote Abbott Out….he spends taxpayer money like a drunk sailor….better yet, do not buy property in Texas… Buyer Beware !
