For most people practicing chords I would say mini keys will not damage your technique. If you are really focusing on classical, them yes you should carry a full size keyboard like the nektar

Korg don't seem to publish the size of the keys on this. It looks like they are about 5/6 the width of a standard key is that right? And also much shorter. Really helpful review btw.
@dean11032 жыл бұрын
That's about right. each key is 3/4", or 2cm wide. Compared to a full size keyboard, on the Korg I can reach an extra key wider interval from pinkie to thumb if that's helpful

@dean11032 жыл бұрын
If you want to learn chords and pop music, the Korg 49 is good, but it has mini keys. If you want to learn classical, get at least 61 full size keys, such as Yamaha P121 or P125. Have fun!

Thanks for video! I understand with this! So in your opinion you recommending what the midi controller that is similar with piano with hammer action?
@dean110311 ай бұрын
If you are wanting compact size, Korg works well. Also look at the Yamaha MX49 for full size keys. If you want full size88 keys and hammer action, then look at Yamaha P115 or casio privia :)

Hi Dean, the GX49 is my first keyboard and I feel pain in my wrists after 2hrs of playing ... is it normal? or are the keys very heavy, what do you know, is the weight of the keys okay? Thanks
@rumpelump88323 жыл бұрын
the keys of the Impact GX-Series are not weighted. I got myself the GX61 and the keys are very light in comparison to other MIDI-Controllers
@dean11033 жыл бұрын
Try keeping your wrists straight or bent down slightly. Elbows at 90 degrees. Putting the keyboard lower may help this. When you hit a chord, think of gravity pulling your hand down rather than your muscles doing it, I suffer from wrist pain too, so take care!
@platotle21062 жыл бұрын
@@rumpelump8832 Do you find that the touch-velocity is a little problematic? Like I'll often hit it and it'll be super quiet. It feels like I have to play really fast and really hard to get it to normal volumes. I've tried all the different velocity settings but to no avail.

Dear sir, midi Keyboard no need to feel so much better because your not taking the recording out of a condensed mic. Perfection comes within us,the way how we use the Keyboard or any other instruments if you are using a piano grand to record via live mic,probably i will consider this,but still grand piano sound are perfectly available in keylab and many other platforms. For me i feel any midi keyboard will do in perfect range. Its depend on the owner so if your a tough guy who has hard hitting please consider a good brand,if you are a caring person for your instruments and you play using reasonably force,you can go any midi. All about money in the end. Also mindset is the most important in our life if we can set our mind and forget about the sound (as both keyboard makes sound when playing) 😊😉😉 Humble opinion
@dean11033 жыл бұрын
True, thanks for that.
@Prabodh_Samatkar3 жыл бұрын
dude what he doesn't understand is that the button size of nektar is full size which is the reason its making that much of noise and that Korg has short keys which is the major reason why it making less nose if korg had same full size keys I don't think it would be that quite.
@Autotrope2 жыл бұрын
It's not as simple as bigger keys make more noise. In general it may be true but the lower end Nektar controllers are still noisier than most competitors. My digital piano's keys are very quiet but of course the action is very high end.

Hello, your video is impressive. I can't decide whether to buy a korg microkey 37 (the simple one, not the air with bluetooth) and a nektar gx49. Which one do you suggest? More than anything because of the size of the keys. Is microkey comfortable? Is it mini size like the vast majority or is it a little bit bigger? Thank you, I await your response from Uruguay.
@dean11033 жыл бұрын
Hi Fabian, If you have normal size hands, I think you will be happy with the microkey, even though they are mini keys. I think the nektar’s full size keys benefit is neutralized by its unpleasant action, unless the key size is THE most important thing to you. If you are going to play piano parts, get the microkey 49. 37 was not enough for me.

@dean11033 жыл бұрын
Yes you can learn on either of these., unless you are trying to learn classical stuff. In that case, get a full size weighted board. They are good for chords but it is challenging to play faster melodies these boards. Between the two I would still stay with the microkey..

I have not tried the Keystation, but I have heard it is quieter than the Nektar. I would still get the microkey for its portability, and if I need hammer action then I already have a Yamaha P115.
