Love your video TomTom, but our experience in travelling the UK in 2023 summer (presis being London to Bath, then down the Cornwall coast to Penzance, back to Kent along the Jurassic coast and then London) 3 provided really poor coverage. So many locations were SOS only. Further, we tried to dial some tourism related numbers (eg, to book a tour, make enquiries etc) and the 3 network wouldn't connect as seemingly we needed to be on a more expensive plan as some of these numbers reverse charge you (seemingly common , too, in the UK) . Did I say is was a pretty poor experience? I think this year we'll takes our chances with EE for it's broad coverage from London up to Scotland and back again. Fingers crossed.

While the video was helpful, I would like to offer a few suggestions about the peculiar issues I had with my phone and more importantly the service provider. First, my phone, an iPhone 8, was locked. You need to get it unlocked before you go. I had to have my son get it unlocked cause I realized this and the companies at the airport couldn't do so and I had no phone to call back. Next, after this was done, I was out of the airport. At this point I bought a SIM card in a grocery store, easy enough, but I didn't realize that it didn't come with any usage. So I had to purchase from a different store something called a voucher to get the phone to operate. I did so and after alot of trouble got the phone working so I could call my wife who was traveling with me and had a newer iPhone that wasn't locked so she did what you recommended at the airport and her phone worked fine.. But nothing other than making a phone call on my phone worked and we used the same provider. The provider "Three" has a poor network for my phone and all it ever did when I tried to search was grind, eating up minutes providing no information to me and ultimately stopped me from making a phone call. What they advertise they don't deliver. So in retrospect before you go make sure your phone is unlocked, get it done by someone at the airport, even if it costs more, and I would not use "Three". In the future, I think I will just shut the phone off and use my WIFI calling and searching, download maps and bag the whole SIM card process or just use my US provider. The stress is just not worth it. I spent more time and money screwing around with "Three" than if I just sparingly used my own provider and put the phone on airplane mode when I didn't need to have access always. And Lastly, this is not what you want to experience after you get off a long trans Atlantic flight and can't think straight.
