Is it possible to edit subcase names in an excel spreadsheet or an excel spreadsheet like tool?
@Simcenter3DTipsandTricks
@Simcenter3DTipsandTricks 4 күн бұрын
I would think it would be but trying it doesn't seem to allow editing the subcase name in the spreadsheet. You can get to it by right clicking on the solution and selecting subcase manager. Then right click in the entity list and select edit in spreadsheet. It appears to only allow editing the scale factor or Y or N cells. After editing in the spreadsheet you need to select the Add-Ins ribbon and then select Update Table for it to pass the spreadsheet edits back to Simcenter 3D. I have a question about applying a constraint. I applied a constraint to a circular face, but now I want to apply a different type of constraint along one side of the edge of the same face. Is there a way to exclude certain nodes from the first constraint application to allow for this? If so, how can I do it? I was able to apply two constraints but I’m getting a yellow warning sign on the solution name, which means that there is something wrong?
@Simcenter3DTipsandTricks
@Simcenter3DTipsandTricks 7 күн бұрын
The yellow warning sign means that there are conflicting constraints and Simcenter 3D will resolve the conflict at solve time so not action is really needed. To avoid conflicting constraints, as a best practice you could split the face in the idealize part so there are two edges instead of one. Then you can apply the constraint to the edge you want. If there is a CAD change the finite element model will update and the constraint will remain associated. As an alternative, you could expand the "Excluded" block in the constraint dialog then select the nodes you don't want to include in the constraint. I don't recommend this since selecting nodes instead of geometry will not survive a CAD change and finite element model update.

@Simcenter3DTipsandTricks

The Enforced Displacement Constraint - Translational Components - Field only uses DOF1-3. If you have DOF1-6 you can truncate the field by first exporting it to a CSV file. Select the rotational DOF4-6 columns and save the csv file. Then when creating the EDC-TC-F, don't select Existing Field From List as shown in the video at time index 7:37, select table constructor, Independent Domain - Cartesian, Next, Delaunay - Fast, Next, Import From Text File and select the csv.

Thank you for this very informative video-it’s exactly what I was interested in! I have a few questions: 1. Is this the same process if I’m using the ANSYS solver within Simcenter? 2. This video demonstrates a linear solution. Would the same process apply for a non-linear multiphysics solution as well? 3. What is the best practice for mapping temperatures? Do you suggest mapping temperatures on the solid body or directly on the mesh? Every time the mesh updates, I have to update groups to map the temperature. Is there a more efficient way to handle this? 4. Could you clarify the best practices for assigning materials to solid bodies versus assigning them to the mesh?

I'm glad you liked it. 1. It is the same process independent of what solver environment you have selected in Simcenter 3D 2. The same process could apply for a non-linear multiphysics solution, however, if you have multiple time steps you may want to create a table of fields or use our multiphysics environment. 3. I have a few videos on mapping temperatures. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nXfMYqN7fr-Drs0si=LzOkNhER4zYC9P1w As a best practice apply load and constraints to geometry so they can survive a CAD change and FE update. Don't use groups. Use selection recipes instead. kzbin.info/aero/PLRhczELP7wYLNDPG_lie1N85MUJsAJGD_&si=k0jc_tGne8KouKLf 4. You can apply material properties to solid bodies or to the mesh collector. If the designer has specified a material property in the CAD model, it removes a potential source of error for the analyst to simply inherit the material properties in the mesh collector.

All of your videos are great. I think a detailed video focused on meshing complex 3D parts to create sweep bodies for brick meshing would be incredibly helpful. Ideally, the tutorial would cover steps like geometry preparation, setting up sweep paths, partitioning bosses, and other essential techniques to achieve a high-quality brick mesh on intricate geometries. It would be especially useful if the video included different features like extruding bosses from a main body to enable sweep meshing, as well as creating sketches to split or extrude sections as needed. Additionally, any best practices for managing mesh quality and troubleshooting issues during the sweep process would be very valuable. Thank you for considering this request!

@@Simcenter3DTipsandTricks Thank you for getting back to me. I appreciate the effort put into the blisk meshing video; however, I noticed that it does not reflect the updated graphical user interface (GUI). While the 2:45-minute video offers some useful insights, it tends to cover relatively straightforward concepts. To enhance the learning experience, I believe it would be beneficial to incorporate a more complex 3D model, ideally showcasing a full 360-degree view. This model could demonstrate a range of advanced features, such as extruding shapes, creating sketches, and splitting bodies. By using a more intricate model, you could illustrate how these features can be effectively utilized for brick meshing. Additionally, it would be particularly helpful to include a segment that focuses on the process of extruding or separating bosses from the main body. This aspect is crucial for achieving optimal brick meshing and would provide a practical example that many users would find valuable. I believe these improvements would make the content more engaging and informative for users looking to deepen their understanding of brick meshing techniques.

Sounds like you may want to run a transient event in response dynamics. Start by creating a time pulse signal with the function toolkit. In the Pulse Function Creation dialog, select Sine, Full Cycle, amplitude 3, time period 1/66 (not 1/33), number of cycles 33, number of intervals 330, ordinate type acceleration, unit type g. Then select a record name 3gat33hz then browse or create an afu file to put it in. Be careful when creating the signal as the period is not 1/frequency as you would expect. I plan to write up a support case to get this corrected. Then create a new transient event. Create a new excitation using the 3gat33hz function created above.

I`ve tried to duplicate something like this in a 2-piece centrifugal rotor, which is bolted together. I am pretty sure looking at the modal results that it is NOT solving the modes with the bodies in the strain condition in the Nonlinear Statics load case which is the first case. Both are definitely selected to be sequentially dependant, so I`m not sure why that is happening. Note that I`m not using the special "preload" subcase type for this bolt load nor am I using a 1D bolt connection to apply it, just a force applied to the correct area. What special measures do I need to take so that the cyclic modes give results which reflect the preloaded structure (with contact) from the first subcase ? Thank you again for your very informative videos.

Instead of using mesh mating conditions for connecting the discretized weld to the parts being welded you would need to use surface-surface glue instead. Then you could control what glue is used when by creating simulation object containers in the transient subcases but this is not possible in a nonlinear transient coupled thermal structural analysis, however, it is possible to create simulation object containers in the subcases of a nonlinear transient structural analysis. You could solve the thermal transient analysis separately then apply the resultant temperatures as a table of fields temperature load to the nonlinear transient structural analysis with simulation object containers that control what glue is applied when. I haven't tried it this way to see if it makes much of a difference. If you try it, please let us know if it makes much of a difference in the results.

Then i go to the search bar and search for New Group (right click on the groups->new group deselects the selection recipe selection). Then i select the edges by group in the Bolt Connection. @Simcenter3DTipsandTricks
@Simcenter3DTipsandTricks 9 ай бұрын
Solid elements have only 3 (translational) degrees of freedom where shell elements have all 6 (translational and rotational). If the connection is along a line between the shells and the solids, it will act like a hinge. Instead of using 1d elements to make the connection, consider using edge to surface glue (in the sim - simulation objects). Edge to surface glue will create imaginary springs out to the width of the shell elements and prevent hinging. Another great place to ask these types of questions is on our community forum community.sw.siemens.com/s/ under Simcenter 3D.

Very good! Now I'm asking for the same for large 2d shell models with laminate. In addition, how to speed up the generation of Graphical Laminate Post Report. Thank you

On the selection bar in the top border bar (if you don't have it on you may need to turn on the top border bar by right clicking on the ribbon) change the selection scope from "within work part only" to "entire assembly"

@@hoangvien7611 If you right click in the graphics screen not on an object you will get a menu where you can select Orient View. You can then select one of the canned view angles.

@@hoangvien7611 Click on the axis of the manipulator. A small window appears for entering the angle.
