As i started working less at home, and more on the go, the Pilot Capless/Vanishing point became, together wih the Platinum Curidas that i was gifted, my most used fountain pens recently. The click mecanism is really practial; no need to post, no need to mind where the cap is..., and they fit really well on shirt and suit pockets. The plastic thing that inside the metal internals is just a place holder for a cartridge or converter; it doesen't really seal with the nipple. The only con, like you pointed, is the low capacity of the con-40 converter. I mostly refil empty pilot cartridges for the increased capacity. I want to get a decimo, for the thinner body, i think it would carry even better in the shirt pocket. I have being enjoying your youtube videos, but need to make some time to catch one of your twitch streams again.
@Chiichyan14 күн бұрын
Hi Nelson! Long time no see! How is the Curidas compared to the Decimo? I actually use the plastic thing instead of the converter. So far no leaks, so I’m pretty happy. I’m keeping the converter to help flush out the pen nib when I change inks =) Also, I don’t remember if I told you about the very old Schaefer ink I have from my grandpa, but it took forever to dry and I hated using it… turns out when I dilute it with water, it works like a dream so I think is so old it became ink concentrate 🤣
@NelsonFJ14 күн бұрын
@@Chiichyan They are very different pens. The Curidas is longer, wider, and overall the bulkier pen; but you feel it is lighter than the Pilot VP, because of the material of the body. The material also makes it feel cheaper compared to the VP - but because the latter feels like a very solid pen; and the Curidas feels good, but not like a premium Pelikan, Pilot or even a Platinum pen; more like a really good piece of Japanese stationery; well made, precise, utilitarian, but not luxurious - Like a higher end Uniball pen or mechanical pencil. Mine has an extra fine nib (they are steel, and not gold like the regular VP, also much longer than the pilot nib). I prefer M and B nibs, but the friend who gave it to me said she also uses an EF for office work, and that it performs very well on cheap paper - and that was the same experience I had - overall a really good every day writer. I have a couple of old Sheaffers (two that belonged to my grandpa; a Cadet and a Craftsman) and in general, i think they prefer thinner and "washed up" inks. I tend to use washable inks with my older pens, like Pelikan 4001 royal blue, Parker Quink Waashable blue and Sheaffer skrip. The "Ink concentrate" actually can happen 🤣. Old inks used other types of pigments, some of them really "strong" (even iron gall for exemple) that dryed and stayed in the rubber sacs. When i used to buy vintage pens a lot, i always tested the function with water first, and you wont belive the amount of times i "revived" half of a century old ink 🤣
@Chiichyan12 күн бұрын
That’s really descriptive, I can completely relate to the uniball analogy. I think I’ll stick with the Decimo. Because of my small hands, I find thinner pens more comfortable. The Decimo also feels heavier than the Pelikan m200 demonstrator. Also, when I’m using the Pelikan, after writing for a while, my hand slides toward the nib and I end up grasping on the edge/corner of the barrel and it hurts with indents on my knuckle and fingertips. I don’t have that issue at all with the Decimo. Does that happen to you? I forgot to mention before, my friend also suggested reusing empty cartridges, but I’m really enjoying that giant plastic place holder for ink 🤣 The Pelikan ef still bleeds on cheap paper, and sometimes I would get threads of paper or dust in between the tines, but no bleeding from the Decimo! I’m confused though, so many people say that the Decimo has gold nibs, but mine is silver coloured… Btw, any ideas on how to wash stained rubber ink sacs? I filled one with iroshizoku Azalea and it is permanently dark pink now.

@@Chiichyan Unless it's a very thin pen, I don't usually have any comfort issues, even though my hands are quite large. With the Pilot Vanishing Point, I can write for hours without any problems, the same with the Curidas. With the Pelikans, the 400's are no problem at all, the 200's are on the small side for me, so I get a little more tired, but I wouldn't say they hurt or tire me out too much. About the color of the nib, they come in many colors, so being silver isn't a problem. They are usually made of gold; the silver colored ones being rhodium plated, but there is a Japanese model, which has a steel alloy nib (sometimes called namiki capless, but its all over Amazon US/CA as Vanishing Point). The gold ones are clearly marked with the number of carats (check for "18k" stamped on the nib alongside other numbers). Also, judging by the size of the pen in your video (even though you have tiny hands), the two thicker rings and the model described on the box, I believe that the pen you have is not a Décimo (thinner, lighter, aluminium body), but the regular Vanishing Point (thicker, heavier, brass body) ... that's why you thought it should be thinner. The Yoseka Stationery has a really good video/article about all the types. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bpKtgZ6HrLhrirs As for the rubber sacs, they really do get stained. If they are very dirty, the best thing would be to replace them (easy to do in some pens, and complicated in others, good to check with a professinal). Try leaving them with water for a few days to see if it improves; but if the pen is working perfectly, and the sac isn't very dry, brittle or leaking, in the junction, I wouldn't worry too much. It's really cool to be yapping about pens with you again 🙂

Hi Michelle! Do you have the yellow standing case? I’m still using that one with the emoti faerie charm. There’s a pen gash across its face 😭 but I love how happy the yellow is. I am having lots of fun with the stickers, I use them almost exclusively… if you have time, you can glance through the thumbnails of my A5 playlist. That’s my bullet journal spreads, and I use her stickers, washi tapes, stamps etc. Do you use a hobonichi?
@MichelleJones-p4eАй бұрын
@ Hey there! No, I do not have the yellow case, but I would have loved it - it looked very cute in your video! I went just now to see what color mine was, but I apologize: I was completely wrong! I have one of those pouches, but it’s a different brand. When I placed my order I think I was GOING to order it, but it was getting to be too pricey for me so I took it off that order. I hope to get one of hers in future tho; I think the face is so cute! I got some of her stickers: the ‘written out’ days of the week, the book doodle, the go-to to-go sampler, ticket doodles, friends movie night, sunrise to sunset large, chocolate emoties, large nautical doodles and some of the big stickers like you got: the lemon, the recharge, and 3 of the ‘protect your peace’ magnets. (I’m going to give one of those to my Bestie.) I do not use the Hobonichi planner; I can’t write that small. I am using the ‘Passionate Penny Pincher’ Home Planner for 2025. I’ve never used it before but I have hopes it will work for me. 😁 Also, I like to use stickers in my planner, but larger ones I like to put on my water bottles. I only use my water bottles for water, so I clean out the inside once in a while but I never put them in dishwater, so it keeps the stickers safe. Have a great day! 🍁

UPDATE: Incredibly, this past week I found that I DO have one of her pencil cases!! It has the cute face she does on the top part, and the bottom has a bunch of the little smiley guys all over it. It does not have the lemons. I’m super happy to discover that I DO have one, but I think the lemons one you have would be great; I love lemons and lemon-flavored things! 🌹

I'm thinking about starting journaling to help with productivity and staying on top of tasks. Do you find that journaling makes a noticeable difference for you, also really liked the video :)
@Chiichyan6 ай бұрын
Hey Mathew! I’m glad you enjoyed it and thank you so much for the compliment! <3 I think Bullet Journals or premade agendas work well. In the past, I made spreads and trackers that took way too long, like the first of the week or the month, I would start making my spreads and it would take 4 hours. Sometimes I’d be busy and not make the spread until the 4th or 5th, and I felt like I failed and there’s no point doing it anymore. It took a while to find a way that works for me. So I actually lightly pencil in my schedule so it’s easily adjustable and only mark it in pen at the end of the day. I did find for a while that even though I write down the same task for weeks, I still don’t do it. That made me feel really terrible about myself. But I found that I was most ontop of things when I was using my school agenda. I would check it multiple times a day because I had to write down homework per course, and I’d need to refer to it to check my homework. ATM I use two different bullet journals. This one is specific to my piano homework, and I write down what I practiced so I remember for the next time I practice the piece. It also helps me be a bit more mindful of my practice because it doesn’t look quite nice if each day I write exactly the same thing, so I switch up my practice pieces or I work on different sections. I’m so verbose haha
@mathewboyd9036 ай бұрын
@@Chiichyan Thank you so much for your detailed response :) I really appreciate it! :), You addressed all the points I was concerned about, including the time-consuming nature of creating a bullet journal and the guilt of not completing tasks, which I really feel sometimes lol. Your explanation on staying organized with schoolwork was especially helpful, as I am currently in my fourth year of college working towards my bachelor's degree. I realized I needed a better system to keep track of assignments and upcoming tests. So thank you again for explaining in such good detail <3. You are also not verbose at all, lol I really appreciate all the details:)
@Chiichyan6 ай бұрын
Oh, in that case, what I did in Uni was I used the free agenda they gave at the beginning of the year, it has a weekly horizontal layout, and at the beginning of the semester, I wrote out the courses I had at the top. Like each day would be a box. If you can visualize: --------------- Monday Work 7-10:30 Naomi’s Birthday 8:00 Hist378 (if there is a test) 10:00 Chin402 Ch 3 Dictation 12:30 Chin435 3:00 Japn428 Ch 4 Grammar test 5:30 Ling226 (Write homework, readings, assignments, here) Hist - evolution of xyz Chin 402 Ch 4 vocab Grammar 4.3,4.4,4.5 Etc --------------- Because it’s horizontal, there is space on the right of the Monday. If I had a shift at my part time job, I’d write it beside the monday in green (for money 🤑) And if there’s some other special thing going on, like a friend’s birthday or club meetings etc, it would be on the very right of the Monday, like close to the end of the box. When I finished something, I’d cross it out. Some semesters I wrote the homework on the day it’s due and other semesters, day it’s assigned. One worked better than the other for me, but I can’t remember which one I preferred. I have a feeling it was the due date, because some assignments are due in 1 week, readings due in 2 days, presentations in a month… so when I sit down to do homework, I would look forward a week or two as well, to check for big assignments and papers that I need to prepare for.
@mathewboyd9036 ай бұрын

I recommend you wash the pen section first to give the nib the best chance to work/flow, ive not mixed inks before myself but if you have any sample vials, also recommended so you get the result you want before inking a pen entirely with it. Just some suggestions from my 2c, i pray it works better for you eventually. May the triune God bless you! P.S. Eyedropper pens take a minute or two to get the ink flowing through the feed to the nib.
@Chiichyan Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your tips! I’ve never washed nibs first before, is it a common step? I had mixed a couple drops of it earlier so I knew it would turn out. (I’ve mixed inks before that have just turned black from chemical reaction)
@robmc120 Жыл бұрын
@@Chiichyan It should be a common practice when you get a new pen, sometimes there are manufacturing oils &/or ink from making/testing the nib from the company that need to be flushed out. I pray the triune God of the supernaturally prophetic (Romans 1:26-32/2 Timothy 4:3/Matthew 24:6/1 Corinthians 1:18 fulfilled in reality today), historically verified (archaeologically & anthropologically by Christians & non-Christians w/enemy/early/multiple attestation, internal consistency, embarrassing reports, etc.) & transcendentally/objectively moral (Exodus 20/Matthew 22:37-40) Holy Bible reveals Himself to you in Spirit & objective truth (John 16:13).
