I have the non pro model and just did a base gasket delete and muffler mod. I was blown away by how much it woke up from that and the saw isn’t even fully broken in yet.

How do you sell to a mill? Just cold call them and offer logs, or do you have to know someone in the business?

You just got to go to a mill and tell them what you got and they will set it up so you can haul your logs in anytime. A few certain mills you got to get a contract with to do so but most won't need any contract. Alot of guys I know will come to your job site and bid on your logs if you lay them out

Why an old skidder? Wouldn't you get better results with a newer skid steer, or mini excavator?

There isn’t a skidsteer or mini excavator in the world that will compete with a skidder and how well they do getting the wood out of the woods… I own all 3 and my skidsteer and mini stay at the landing to help buck the logs that are dragged out of the woods from the skidder 👍🏻

@@timbarden4578 I'm still figuring this damn skidder out. I put all new cables, batteries. Shut of switch, ignition, starter, alternator. Still engages starter while running snd trips gear off starter. I triple checked it's hooked up correctly. So I put a online kill switch between starter and ignition. That seems to work but now damn thing is cutting out and trying to shut down when on throttle. I.just changed fuel filter so hopefully that is the problem. If not I will change fuel pump.

I didn’t get a good look at the leaves, but it appears to be next to some small Ash trees, but the bark and dark heartwood says, Hornbeam!!! (it’s in the ash family)! Yeah it’s easy to cut green, but dead-standing it’s “ironwood”, (sparks flying off your bar hard,hot burning, hard to split too)!!! But, it burns hot as hell in a wood stove, it’s like the 2 hottest tree BTU/per/ lbs. you can find in Eastern Forests!!! Some call it “blacksmith wood” or “axe handle wood”, referred to up here, in Maine! We have a lot up here, but I’m not sure if it’s common down that far (Pennsylvania, right)? It Could be, the leaves look pretty close to an ash tree, same family just,(it’s badass cousin, Bub)!!! Hope it helps $$$!

@@scottb6098 you would probably average 50 cents a board foot on the stump. Meaning standing Trees in your woods you got to sell and someone has to invest lots of money and hardwork to get the trees out and to the buyers. So another way to look at it is you should receive 600 dollars a load for low grade logs, and your nicer grade logs should be roughly 1000 bucks a load for you.

Is there any money in red oak these days? Such a beautiful wood, tall and straight, but the market seems to have fallen out for red oak. White oak and black walnut where it at. Those are puff palls, or earth balls, and I call those spiders triangle backs or thorny backs. They come out late August in masses.

Please help me save a tree species...PitchPine.....In old tobacco barns and in ancient eastern construction. It was the old world way of teeated wood. Actually much better than than anything we know today. There are 150 yr. old homes still sitting on pitch p🎉ine foundations....But down there they call it lightard. My dad was a sawyer on the east coast for 30 yrs. And he ran into two of them. Among millions

Believe it or not. A eastern aromatic red cedar can grow as tall or taller. And get bigger than any other tree in the woods.
