Seeing this now and knowing what I know now...What I can say that at 08:27 the man said it "delayed gratification"...Also the man at 08:53 said the most important thing "academic and political success underpined by economics success-GET FINANCIALLY EDUCATED in other words Money Power Respect is the way we break away, Derrick was right the people needed to put themselves out there and make themselves seen. Basically blacks were making moves back then but we were suppressed...Derek's mun was a great woman. Oh, I was 18 at the time this was made...a lot has changed but a lot of the underlying problems still exists.

I was a big fan as a kid. It was great having a rapper from the UK. Me and my dad didn’t see the West Indian population of Britain as anymore than friends at school and workmates for my dad. I think Manchester where I grew up. Has the largest community of West Indians and their children. After London. R.I.P. Derek Bowland.

He spoke to me as a young white kid. The racism was screwed up then. Let alone decades later now. And It’s obvious when I go out clubs pubs with a white mate. You get noticeably treated differently. Than when you go out with a black mate,It needs to change. Growing up as a poor white kid in Manchester, I have more in common with black Brits . Than I do the middle/upper class white Brits. Sad that we lost an intelligent pioneer so young.R.I.P. Derek B . A legendary figure in UK Hip Hop.
