There are several ways to do it without braiding, spinning twine I just uploaded. Braiding takes more time and effort.

Is it really as easy to crack,as you make it look? What would that whip, or a whip like it, cost?

@@Pocketsnakes Isn't this video beveling after it's been wet stretched, though (as shown in the previous video)? Or are you saying that in *general* you would bevel before stretching, but this was an exception?

Wow! That’s really interesting! If you’re braiding a whip and a strand breaks, are you out of luck? Or is there something you can do to be able to continue?
@Pocketsnakes
@Pocketsnakes 2 ай бұрын
Typically it depends on where it was when it breaks, sometimes it requires starting over.

I guess I don't really understand what the stabilizing hotel card is actually doing to help. Wont the strander cut the lace exactly the same without it?
@Pocketsnakes
@Pocketsnakes 2 ай бұрын
It keeps the plane even and narrows the space between the bed and CAM lock. You can do it with fingers supporting the disc. It also takes the wobble out of the fence improving the consistency of the width of the lace.

Lordy you need an old heavy chair with a beefy piece of wood on the side of the backrest. Turn it sideways and drill a hole the height of that drill with your arm braced. Drive an old bearing in it and put the tip of that joker into the bearing. If you don't have a bearing then nail a washer to enforce the hole. You wouldn't have to hold it up and position the chair where your left arm will be free to guide the strand. Your back... shoulder... arm and hand will all thank me 😂 Oh and weight the chair down a bit. @45:00 LAID BACK! 😅 This is great but you need a way to run it thru something that would give you a rough measurement 😉 thanks for this sir.

It would be mildly useful to know the width. But after wet stretching it's around 4 to 5mm wide and then usually gets beveled and sized to be uniform, ends up longer as the material stretches and narrows. So it's a general description of the width. I'd love to have space for a large sturdier work bench or table would make it easier to be sure. Mostly I'm showing my process with what I have.

That is a cool little whip. I've found by experimenting that I can use a similar technique by flicking the Danger Noodle I got from you (just ordered a second one for a spare), with a forward vertical flick, and if while you flick and keep your wrist and hands in motion, you can flick and use the off hand to draw it back running your hand along the length of it near the cracker for continuous flicks with devastating effect (on pillows at least). Like your technique with this flyswatter pocket whip, it is literally like you're firing off continuous arrows to your target. Being an archer and past archery instructor, this motion comes very naturally to me, and translates well to the use of the Danger Noodle for using this method, too. Your products are awesome!
@Pocketsnakes
@Pocketsnakes 9 ай бұрын
If you oval out an x pattern, you can momentarily pause the whip in a straight line for the same effect without having to towel the whip. You can also pendulum the whip to an apex pause and draw it in a direction. It's a lot like throwing an arrow into a target by it's point if the shaft is out of alignment, it's hard for it to fly true.

How did you unravel the paracord?
@Pocketsnakes
@Pocketsnakes Жыл бұрын
so if you pull the 7 strands out a few inches and tie a knot, tie the knot to a post and shuck a wrinkle down the 7 strands until (in this case about 50 ft) the sheath comes off of the inner strands. Then I wrapped a cubit (forearm) then cut bound the elbow end of the loops with a lashing, the cut the loops to make a mop like fly whisk bit out of the useless paracord guts, making them useful.

thats just a vape box, isn't it? I'd love to know how you attached the thick wire to the atomizer coil parts
@Pocketsnakes
@Pocketsnakes Жыл бұрын
It is, this is a cheap ($5) buildable mod with 2 posts, the copper wire was spun with a nut (metric) that matched the thread of the screws in the posts so they could be screwed into the post holes. I only stripped enough of the end to screw into the post.

it takes a bit of practice but it's the fastest method I know of for beveling a tapered strip. (You can use the same method to reduce the width as the angle gets too long as you can rebevel the strip downsizing it by 1/2 mm for the entire remaining strip.)

Have you done this with 550 cord? I have limited experience with 650 cord but in my experience the 650 I have is not much different in diameter to my 550 cord.
@Pocketsnakes
@Pocketsnakes 10 ай бұрын
You can do a 4 layer version in 550 cord, or a 6 layer in either whipmaker cord or 650 older style cord. (before they standardized it to be the same as 550 cord. If you need a spool message me on instagram or facebook. I've got quite a few 300 ft spools of this larger old stock to make these falls. In particular, I've got hot pink, tan, solar yellow, and a few other colors. (black doesn't work as it shrinks too much in the ironing process.
