Hey man, thanks for your walk through. Question about off-grid showers. Is it required to connect to your septic?

Have you considered using a rainwater collection system where you put the rain water into some barrels or a bladder that is raised up so you don't necessarily need a pump?

I suggest you move the propane tank outside the closet. Fumes can escape the valve and hose connections which can accumulate and possibly explode. Doing so only needs 10 feet of metal flexible pipe. Parking it outside does not hurt the propane.

Thanks for the input but the section where the propane sits is vented.

Dude, you could easily heat the water with solar panels and use propane as a backup.

This is a great idea !!! I want to build something like this on our property. How did you vent the exhaust from the water heater ? Do you have a vent on the sides or a roof vent. Thank you for posting this .

I'm a Yank but I was raised in southern Ontario. It's hard for me to imagine there is enough sun in the winter. I remember periods of 2 sunny days in 2 weeks which would be a disaster. I'd think you would need a generator to keep you going in those types of periods. Or perhaps 1,000 watts of solar.

Where can I find this submersible water pump? After using it for a while Is it still a pump that you’d recommend?

Very awesome. Question: with a system like this do you have to drain the lines after you use it and then maybe it won't be used again for a few days or week ~ and if you don't drain the lines is it going to damage the heater or pump? TIA

Love that you can get the ladder out of the way until you need it !!! And great use of this type instead of something more expensive.

I like it except for the pump and propane igniter being powered by D cell batteries. I think I'm gonna make a system with a small solar panel and battery and RV water pump

Make a whole outhouse, use a “septic system that harnesses the biogas, you have gas to heat the water and run a generator.
@bradbiesecker1624 ай бұрын
@@ghostwhite1648can you recommend a video that uses biogas to run a generator? I don't think I've seen that or even heard of it

Nice loft area, the best part of your cabin is the indoor toilet. I don't understand why some people prefer unsanitary outhouses

Great video! Leaning so much from you. Just bought our property in Maine and living off grid. Will be building a small cabin soon and wonder how to get everything ready. Question- how do you guys run shower? Also- did you hook up solar system or are there companies who will do that for you? I’m not experienced with electrical. Thanks. Keep em coming!
