This was the Ordination of, amongst others, Fr. Francis Ockerse. 27 June 1986. I was there.

Watched the ordinations to the priesthood and diaconate at St Thomas Aquinas Serminary yesterday - on the feast of The Sacred Heart. What a joyous occasion! Their first masses were truly a blessing. God bless these wonderful young men and the Archbishop - without which we wouldn't have this beautiful mass!

In addition to the lack of volume if you really want to hear how it's played just do a search for JPJ isolated bass and you'll get to hear how to play it from the source.

Thanks for commenting! That's exactly what I recommend in the video; what a treasure that these recordings are available to us. Definitely going to need to change my setup if I ever do another video. Thanks for the input.

Bit of advise, if you’re going to do a bass tutorial, turn up the god dam sound. Less bloody talking too.

A very good tutorial, well explained and demonstated. I just compared it to the actual Jp Jones isolated bass also on youtube and for the most part its very close. I’ m sure that if you go play the isolated track you will also hear those minor differences. The devil is in the details! 😈 ( for me)

Such good Catholic common sense. Even in this brief video, one clearly sees the preoccupation of one Catholic bishop to form priests according to the mind and heart of Holy Mother Church. Dear Monsigneur +Marcel Lefebvre, just a Catholic bishop doing his sacred duty. Nothing more. Nothing less. In a time of an unprecedented ecclesial crisis. And time has proven him so right.

This amazing iconic bass is actually fairly easy to play, and recorded very clearly. As Jason stated, there are even isolated tracks available on KZbin. I recommend to any players to just listen to it and learn it by ear. I promise you can do it if you keep trying. Just keep rewinding and break it down into small sections of just a few notes. It will get easier and easier to learn things by ear. You will be able to almost instantly be able to play anything you hear. I promise you that anyone can do this. It is not like perfect pitch or something difficult that only certain people can master. Just give it a try! Videos like this will become a waste of your time, as you learn songs as quick as you can hear them, and you can get on to what's really important... playing with other people, which will improve your timing, sound, feel, theory, etc. faster than anything. Plus, it's soooooo much fun! Keep practicing at home, but please please please seek out some other musicians to play with.

Its not a cover of the song, its a lesson and analysis...thats like a math lesson but the teacher just does complex equations on the screen and you have no idea where the formulas came from or what they mean and how they work together.

Thank you for making this video. I found it very, very helpful. Also, love your guitar. I was gonna but that before I bought my Fender Mustang. I still might buy that bass. If I remember correctly they're relatively inexpensive too. I agree with your philosophy of of not sounding like a clone but at least playing the basic song structure. Improvising along to a song is not only fun but creative as well. Thanks, Jason.
