'Agnosticism' is what atheists hide behind when asked to justify atheism.

I will believe it when i see it. Fence sitter. Hedging their bet against the idea God may exist. Minority part of the larger problem. Unwilling to take a stance that might make them accountable. Mostly want to be left alone and away from a fight that makes no sense. Not wrong, just cogs in a machine they neither are hurt by or profit from in any significant way. Until it is at their doorstep and life forces you to pick a side. Sadly, it is usually the side they thought was the problem in the first place. Agnostics are the ones that sat home despite living in a swing state when independence was at stake. Not a left or right circle jerk super bowl our elections usually are but the 1 clear time it was Us vs them, the Haves vs the Have nots, the Minority aka the 1% vs the Majority aka the poors aka the 99% and they population went for subjugation. I want to be classified. I want to be stereotyped. Time to 💩 or get off the pot.

if you ask someone if they believe in god and they tell you they are agnostic, then they are an atheist. agnosticism is not a third answer to the question of belief.

How can a video, asking the question, "what is atheism", be almost 42 minutes long???
@insanetubegain
@insanetubegain 20 күн бұрын
the·ism /ˈTHēˌizəm/ noun belief in the existence of a god or gods, especially belief in one god as creator of the universe, intervening in it and sustaining a personal relation to his creatures. "there are many different forms of theism" a·the·ism /ˈāTHēˌiz(ə)m/ noun disbelief or lack of belief in the existence of God or gods. I didn't watch the forty minutes of what ever this is because, the answer to the question in the title should only take a couple of seconds, and anything else is just speculation. spec·u·la·tion /ˌspekyəˈlāSH(ə)n/ noun 1. the forming of a theory or conjecture without firm evidence. "there has been widespread speculation that he plans to quit" 2. investment in stocks, property, or other ventures in the hope of gain but with the risk of loss. "the company's move into property speculation"

I don't mind going through the details and history, but I wonder what purpose this serves? It tries to give a really complicated answer to a very simple question: do you believe in god(s)? Everything else you want to know, you have to ask the atheist in question. But I guess there is some value to go through this, however, this channel seems to be focusing more on explaining why its creator's dogmas are the the truth and this video gives a bit dishonest vibes. Speak with others, so you can understand their position.

OK, so 42 minutes asking "What is atheism?" when one sentence would do? Heh, heh. It's the lack of belief in a god or gods. Period. What's a "god"? Well, that's up to _you._ I mean, atheism is just the reaction to a claim. And _theists_ make the claim. So you tell _me_ what your god is - and why you think he, she, or it is real - and I'll tell you whether I can accept your claim or not. (Spoiler: If you have nothing distinguishable from wishful-thinking backing up your claim, it's probably going to be "not.")

This is a typical example of the theological framework of Reformed Christianity trying to frame atheism as a spiritual problem rather than a rational or intellectual position. The core issue with this perspective is that it assumes atheism arises from some inherent flaw or "fallenness" in human nature, a worldview that dismisses the possibility that atheism could be a reasoned conclusion based on a lack of convincing evidence for theistic claims. The argument that atheism is the result of "willful suppression of the truth" is essentially a theological assertion, not a logically sound critique. It assumes that the Christian worldview is the baseline for understanding truth, and any deviation from it must be a result of moral or spiritual corruption. This doesn't account for the variety of thoughtful, moral, and purposeful lives that atheists live based on secular reasoning, nor does it address the fact that many atheists have actively sought, and found no convincing evidence, for the existence of a deity. The notion that atheism "undermines objective moral principles" is a common but flawed claim. Secular humanism, for example, has demonstrated that ethical frameworks can be constructed based on human well-being, societal cooperation, and reason-without needing a divine command. It’s a misunderstanding of ethics to claim that moral order can only come from a higher being. In fact, one might argue that believing morality comes from God leads to moral arbitrariness-whatever God commands is deemed moral, regardless of its actual consequences. Furthermore, the claim that "transformation is the work of the Holy Spirit" sidesteps the reality that for many, atheism arises from the pursuit of knowledge, evidence, and intellectual honesty, rather than a "hardening of the heart." This framing diminishes the agency of individuals in seeking truth, instead attributing their intellectual independence to a failure of spiritual alignment. The message of love and patience for atheists is ultimately noble, but the underlying assumption that atheism is a result of spiritual blindness that can only be corrected through exposure to Christian doctrine is highly problematic. Atheists don’t need "salvation" in the Christian sense; they are simply people who see the world differently, often with a focus on evidence, reason, and human-centered values. At the end of the day, if the goal is to genuinely understand the position of atheism and engage with it on intellectual terms, it’s more productive to abandon the assumption that non-belief is a moral or spiritual defect. Instead, recognizing atheism as a valid position based on skepticism of supernatural claims allows for a more respectful and meaningful dialogue.

Don't describe atheists as people who don't believe in God. Far more theists than atheists fit that definition. Muslims and Hindus mostly.

@@asheshov12 With all seriousness, what would your response be if I produced a video entitled 'what is Christianity' and then did not give an unbiased presentation? I am not triggered by the existence of the video. I am triggered by the content and how it doesn't match with what atheists actually are and think. Also, I love how people use 'triggered' as if someone shouldn't react when they are insulted. You are obviously triggered by my response to this video :)

@@asheshov12 even from a christian perspective (whatever that is) the answer is still the same. Atheism the is the lack of a belief in god. It's so simple.
