Hi I just wanted to ask that if a person is studying bachelors in hungary, do they give residence permit in the form of card and for how much duration 1year renewable or for 3years straight. Or they give visa renewable on passport only.

Yes residence permit is always a physical card . Visa extension depends upon visa officer now a days they give visa of short term then you make your semester active enrollment then renew etc
