Wow, David. Years after following your Lumix/Panasonic videos (and now some years after your passing) I suddenly find our interests aligned again, as an e-Brompton is definitely on my radar for a new year purchase. If your loved ones are still reading these comments, I'm sure they'd be happy to know that your opinions and content creation skills are still having an impact even today!

Right now, canon full frame equivalent is much smaller with than the older canon combinations. Canon rf 800mm f11 + 2xteleconverter + canon r8 Yes m43 is smaller but it's now comparable weight and price even more! Not to mention, FF is superior given the same focal length, because of the bigger sensor. In good light, they can be almost equal. What's interesting is, there is now 150-500 lens for m43 and combined with 2x, it surpasses canon's combination. But then, there is 1200mm etc for canon for some people. Ultimately if you want to push it, just do digiscoping. While nikon p1000 laughs at all of these in compact form. The point seems to be, the more expensive the gear, the more light it gathers, which increases the usable time-range of the day when it starts getting dimmer and dimmer. P1000 etc can only be used in bright daylight.

This camera is selling on the used market for more than twice the price, of when it was new. The LX100 II costs way more, if you could find one. R.I.P. David Thorpe, we all miss you!

I had this lens for few years. It's beautiful but m43 is not really for shallow depth of field.

I discovered Mr. Thorpe's channel on a recommendation at the same time as his death. I am saddened for his family to whom I offer my humble condolences. I thank at the same time his family and Mr. Thorpe for their generosity in allowing his posthumous contributions to continue. My sincere friendships, as well as to his community of followers.

I've got two. One is in a plastic baggy in parts after I watched another KZbin video that inspired me to attempt to fix the stabilization problem. I bought a second without the problem which works fine, but the shutter release button was missing and the upper dial lacks friction. It still gives me great results but I like my EPL6 more. I am hoping to come across another EPL5 which needs a simple fix like a new screen or broken battery door which I can cobble back together with my baggy of bits.

Just like gx9, it was a WTF release. For g95, people expect an upgrade g85, for gx9, expect an upgrade gx8. But both failed.
@alistairlambert3275Ай бұрын
The problem was that the G80 was such a good camera to start with. I've owned both and the G90 has better ergonomics, chunkier grip and usb charging. I still want a G80 in my collection of cameras as I have taken some of the best pictures on it.

I am literally now just discovering what happened to Mr. Thorpe. As I ran into one of his videos and saw the last one was from three years ago, so I checked his channel to see if there were any new ones and that’s when I discovered what happened and just wanna pass on my condolences and say I always enjoyed his videos and reviews and it definitely helped me select equipment through my video and photography journey. He will be missed he is missed.

hi, is the G90 a good camera to record 3 hour videos continuously?
@artistjohАй бұрын
The camera can do it, but the battery wouldn't and you would need a card big enough to handle the file size. You would need to figure out an external power source. It indoors on a tripod powering the camera via AC to a dummy battery is easy. It should also be possible to rig up a large external battery or power bank but do your research. It has been my experience that 3 hour events are usually indoors, and AC power is a doable solution.
