When I was a kid, I used to think this was Chris Berman being crazypants. Now that I actually work in live sports production, I 100% get his frustration of a crew doing things they should know not to do if they are working at that level. It would be like me trying to patch into the producer's earpiece while he's trying to tell talent something through theirs, you should know what the do's and dont's are when youre on air. It reminds me of a game I was working on where a pitcher was one strike away from a 7th scoreless inning, and the producer instructs a cameraperson to hold their iso on the pitcher, and even as a non-camera op, I know the idea is to get the pitcher's reaction off the mound if he got the out. Of course, gets the out and the cameraperson decides to chase something else so we dont have the reaction on air. The producer rips into him during the commercial break, but it wasnt being rude for the sake of being rude, it was professional frustration of a guy not knowing the obvious basics. Everyone on the floor has to able to handle their obvious responsibilities during a show.

I first learned of this commercial back in 2003 when the poorly translated lyrics were featured in a newspaper comic: Zippy by Bill Griffith. Are we having fun yet?

There are probably some people who watch this and think he overreacted and dragged that out too long.. maybe a little.. but that is beyond distracting and it is so obviously disruptive and distracting to the one person who needs to be on point in front of the camera.. id be fuming too. They were unprofessional. Not him. I’m not taking that gracefully either.

I love seeing people being real, as opposed to the bullshit, always-cheery personae they portray on the air. I would love to see personalities like this behave this honestly on the air.
