You hear a progression of their sound on the first 3 LPs. Not necessarily needs to be in your library, but have a few interesting moments to check out. Psychedelic Mango (2008) has a Syd Barrett Era-Pink Floyd Sound with some Grungy Noise Rock thrown in for good measure. A 6.5 to 6 out of 10, the mixing and production really holds the album back. Corridors of Blissterday (2009) improves on the P.M. by improving on the production and mixing as well as the songwriting. A 7 to 6.5 out of 10, they're getting closer but still no cigar. Frond (2010) is where they have captured their sound but still have one or two elements preventing it from being perfect. A 7.5 to 7 out of 10, now all they need is to have less repetitive melodies & lyrics and a really good producer. Beard, Wives, Denim (2012), Hobo Rocket (2013), Man It Feels Like Space Again (2015), The Weather (2017) & Tasmania (2019). 5 album streak where I would score them somewhere between a 9.5 to 9 to 8.5 out of 10. They've perfected their song writing, they've got the right sonic palette and a producer (Tame Impala/Kevin Parker) who knows how to make their sound blossom. 9 (2021) feels like a massive step down. Kevin Parker is not their producer and they haven't learned the production and mixing methods from him at all. While the album has hooks, it feels kind of like Imagine Dragons featureless glop. This album feels like what Pond would sound like if they were generic. A 3.5 to 3 out of 10, they have no excuse for sound this hollow, poor & overrated (with a the good scores it got from critics.) Stung! (2024) feels like a return to form towards that 5 album streak throughout the 2010s. No score for it yet since I need to listen to it a few more times, but early indications are good so far and the production and mixing have the substance that 9 was missing. But it just as easily could become nothing more than nostalgia bait if it doesn't hold up. Here's hoping it's good. I love Pond and hoping for another classic album.

Do I like this more than frond??? Very hard choice! This album is so much like the jams in Piper at the gates of dawn and it also reminds me of mink mussel manticore. I’m really dumbfounded at how albums like these aren’t well known in the neo psych scene, this is an ESSENTIAL listen for ANYONE who’s getting into neo psych especially if you like PaTGoD
