So...you're saying that the Mopar engineer that wrote the instructions was wrong? Only have a couple issues with your assessment. One...I'm a better mechanic than the dealership mechanics. I may suck at creating videos, but I am damned good with tools. Two...1.7 hours plus shop supplies adds up to 350 bucks (what I was quoted) that I saved. I get that you feel a need for job security. There's not enough people like me to put your shop out of business. You'll be fine without my money.

@@nateccnn some corporate guy wrote the instructions not actual mechanics you should know that lol.. yes I have installed several of these kits and start to finish it is a little over an hour. Sadly dealership charges 1.7 cause that’s what it says on paper.

@@racegascologne they are identical trucks when it comes to that so yes. Little different since 3500 has leafs vs 2500 coils but actually 3500 with leafs you have more room. I’m in MN. I’m not saying the actual name of the dealership since we are on the internet and I work there lol… if you’re seeing way higher prices then call around more. The official shop time is under 2 hours at $145 an hour or whatever the dealer is charging.

@@xGR1MxREAPERx Thanks for the info, I thought because you have to raise the bed on the 3500 to get the pucks in since the cradle is welded to the frame that it may be a little more time consuming. As luck has it, I am on the west otherwise I would be bringing it to the dealer. CA doesn't want to bother... 👍

So glad to hear that this helped. I remember the research I put in to understand the way it works. I thought I could save someone some time someday. 5 years later, finally helped someone. LOL

I added the FP3 at the same time I put the pipes on. I did not see any reason to try the bike with the new pipes with no tuner. I did however fire it up with No Tune selected and it had sever deceleration pop. I then used the Eliminator 300 tune and still had some decel pop, but better than with no tune. I finally wound up doing 3 firecrackers and then the auto tune function and got it fined tuned to where there is no noticeable decel pop. Will you need the FP3? Depends on how you like the sound of decel pop. I see guys riding around town all the time with horrible decel pop and they seem to like it that way.

I drilled the holes in the bed after everything was installed and the bed bolts bolted back in. I don't think it matters which way you do it. The instructions are clear...follow them and you'll be fine. I seriously doubt your 50 gal fuel tank will be any more difficult than my 33 gal tank. The key is to snake your arm up there in between the tank and the frame rail.

You'll just need to be a little more careful than I was in cutting those holes. 1, use the correct saw bit. As I said in the video, I used one made for wood and I also used one that was not the correct size after I wore down the teeth on the one made for wood...hahaha. 2...bed liner is easy to touch up if you do mess it up like I did.

Turn power switch to ON, then hit the plus sign to increaser the speed from Zero to whatever speeds you want to use.

I used an impact wrench to loosen the bolts. I only had trouble with one bolt and that was because I accidentally blipped the impact wrench while it was set to tighten. That bolt would not come out using the impact wrench so I had to use a breaker bar. But that was my fault. I can easily see why your bolts could be tough to remove though. Working around the gas tank on the driver's side was a bit of a struggle. But it is doable. In my video I make mention of how much easier the passenger side was. But yeah...you have to slinky your hand and arm into that tight space to get the bracket aligned. Once the bolts are started I use a 1/2" extension on the infarct wrench to tighten them.

It will arrive Wednesday and I hope to complete this weekend! I've priced to have installed and its approx $900 to install. I'll do it myself and have peace of mind knowing its installed and torqued right. Thanks again!

I searched on google which led to an eBay listing . The part came directly from a dealership in oklahoma. That was a year ago. Maybe I just got lucky. Seems like 3 days after I searched I had a box of parts in my hands.

Instead of this package I installed the BW gooseneck and fifth wheel turnover ball kit. Way way way easier

@@nateccnn ok, but this is fresh out the box . I’ll turn it on hit it to the lowest number being I don’t wanna cook the paint. It goes for like five to ten seconds and stop. Of coarse I don’t hVe the receipt 🧾 I’m just wondering if maybe theirs a certain way I need to set it. I’m very disappointed I didn’t notice it was digital and no trigger. I’m old school .

I did not order my truck from the factory. My truck did not come from the factory with the prep kit. I chose my truck for other reasons. I wanted the prep kit so I bought it and out it in myself because I am capable of doing it . And yeah....I save a couple hundred bucks...woohoo

Correct. I did not order the goose neck since I don't own a gooseneck trailer. But after I installed the 5th wheel pucks I wish I had done the gooseneck while I had the bed raised. Not sure why I feel a need to have the gooseneck option though. LOL

Any idea what part numbers I need for the 5th wheel / gooseneck part numbers?

They are supposed to be the same size. I wore out one hole saw (using a wood hole saw on metal..no bueno). The only one I had left was slightly smaller so I used a grinder to make the hole a bit larger just to fit the plastic inserts into the hole and cover up my mess. Get the right tools before you start this job.
