I just woke up in 1991 again. Makes for a perfect Sunday morning mate, thank you 👌 What are you using for the evolving tb-like sequence?
@boedye4 күн бұрын
That is humbling! Thanks! To answer: Verbos Foundation Oscillator into Verbos Dual Four Pole Low Pass Filter. The sequence is done with a Verbos Multistage and me just flipping switches. Oh, and a Verbos Amp and Tone Controller.

The Drumbrute clocking everything, and the DFAMS's are doing the more interesting "sequenced" parts. All of this is going into the Cosmix Pro, with the RML Electron Fuzz and the Mimeophon through the effects loops.

I just bought one for $280 and financially it was not the best move but I am thinking about selling my Akai MPC Live 2 which I love, for this. It has not arrived yet but it is "checking all the boxes" for me. I don't have to worry about it getting stolen because it is not expensive and it does the things I need. I was looking at running it thru a strymon deco to get stereo. I thought I needed stereo sampling but it would be better with a expression pedal set to pan. I disagree with the moog and buchala but Pittsburg Modular is rad!... and not overpriced. I can sample my vst collection, I love the digital sound, but I have a tube amp too. Sample start and end, pitch and a sequencer! That is all I wanted my Roland SP 202 to be. I bought the Live two to make drums and I mostly use it as a synth. It is amazing for that and the speaker is the best feature I didn't know I wanted but I can add a monitoring speaker to this too. When it comes I will plug this into my old Xtortion and DOD Echo FX and its gonna get crazy.

How are you syncing these? DFAM doesn’t have midi
@boedye2 ай бұрын
Good eye! In this case, the Syntakt doesn't have CV or Gate either, which obviously presents a little bit of a problem. In this particular setup, I have the Syntakt MIDI OUT going to an Erica Synths Midi to CLK module that's on the other side of my rack (you can't see it there), and then the back over to the DFAM (the bright red patch cable). Cool thing about that module is that it also will take Gate / Clock and send it back out to Midi, but I rarely go that direction. modulargrid.net/e/erica-synths-midi-to-clock-v2

Did you record into the force then trigger the scenes though that. Would be interesting to know.
@boedye7 ай бұрын
In this case I did not, however it is capable of that. In this, I'm using the force for the drum beat (which the preloads are really, really nice...) and sending a gate signal to clock the stillson-hammer. In another few days, I will be using a Tascam Model 12 to out each of my voices into their one tracks, and then recording them onto the Force, and then eventually seeing if I can sample and mangle them as you would using an Octatrack.
@goonfish7 ай бұрын
Is that an Intellijel Atlantis in the corner doing the sequencing, or is that a Harvestman/IME module? Pad is a mellow cloud! (🙃)
@boedye7 ай бұрын
That is my faithful Stillson Hammer by IME! I had the Metropolis for a bit (The Atlantis is the SH101 Clone, the Metropolis is the sequencer)! 3 Pittsburgh Modular Primary Oscillators into a G-Storm Tonus VCF (Arp 2600 Filter Clone), Pittsburgh LPG, Then Monsoon!
@HeavyDutyModularSynths9 ай бұрын
man what oscillator is that weird sequencer on top left controlling ? its pretty awesome. is it ran through chorus or something ?
@boedye9 ай бұрын
To walk you through: The Sequencer on the top left is a 4 channel sequencer called the Stillson-Hammer. It's been out of production for a while, but you can find them easily enough. The Stillson is sequencing and clocking everything in the rack (Drums are from a Syntakt, clocking an Erica Synths Midi to CV / Gate Module in a Pod Enclosure and clocking the Stillson). The heavy bass / distortion bit (which gets a bit muddy). Is just the Verbos Foundation Oscillator filtered with a Doepfer 303 type filter, going through the Retro Mechanical Distortion. The sounds that you are hearing, immediately when I hit play, are coming entirely from the Hex Inverter / Erica Synths Mindphaser which is going into an Erica Synths LPG and a XAOC Devices Belgrad (I typically keep it on the Notch / Lowpass setting, but it's not coloring the sound much in this patch). Otherwise that is all Mindphaser. What I think you might be referring to is the "through-zero phase modulation bus", being modulated and with the Verbos Multistage on the bottom left. Oh, and outputting all that through a Verbos Multitap Delay / Reverb. But again... not an overwhelming amount.

Cognitive functions. For men, we generally go from "room to room", and the hallway (so to speak) is just a means to an end. Because we are generally compartmentalized and focused on the directive finding ourselves in that space in between rooms, that aimless lost place is a pretty not so great place to be.
