Cant wait to see how this thing does for rappelling videos... any way to make it stay in front of you looking back when going downhill?
@CelessenceКүн бұрын
I won't be testing the drone for rappels for the following 3 reasons: 1. Drone can't follow going down. As I was saying at the end of the video, I did try it on "spotlight" mode have it facing me and it still would not follow. 2. Drone may freak out and fall/flyaway once it leaves my hand and then realize it's all of the sudden got a 50' drop below it, or water beolow it. 3. Most canyons are in wilderness area anyways; illegal to fly drones.

Meat anchors? How did the last person get down?
@Celessence2 күн бұрын
Oh we only use meat as back up to freshly-built anchors. The last person would know that the anchor is good to be used if everyone else rappel off just fine and never tug on the back-up meat.

Awesome video! What are your suggestions for retrieving stuck ropes?
@Celessence6 күн бұрын
Thanks! Well if the stuck rope still has the rappel side reacheable (the rope just won't budge), then can ascend up rope from that side to top to investigate. But if the rope already has been pulled and got stuck at the end, never ascend rope from the pull side. In that case (proper answer) the rope is either loss cause or will have to run the canyon again to get it, or have whoever running canyon next to retrieve for you. But... i'm not exactly proper... :-P

Cibertruck at the very limit of it's capabilities vs a Jeep Rubicon that has swapped out street tires and even then barely makes an effort. If you want pure off-road capability, it is a no contest in favor of the Jeep. If you have no intentions on going on those trails, then it is not as relevant. I guess if you can burn 100k in a Cibertruck to compare to a Rubicon, then common sense is not very high on your skillset. Would love to see it out on the actual Rubicon trail. Bet they would lose a little more than some plastic parts.

What was the date of the ride? Cybertruck has had some updates since then. I'd take cybertruck over the rest hands-down. It has so much more interior room and comfort, it's so much quieter to ride in, especially in nature, and it has front cameras and some pretty amazing off road options that can be switched at the touch of a button. One thing that would have been fun to try would be to get out of the vehicle and use summon to have the cybertruck just follow you as you walk the most difficult sections. The European version of the cybertruck will have a shorter wheelbase, and one day there should be a jeep version I hope as that would be super cool. It's really interesting to see - as a 53 year old - a lot of initial hate for something new and innovative and different... But old geezers thought the same when cars went from traditional to modern back in the 50s. I live in Flagstaff, a college town, and most of my friends are in their 20s and 30s... With cybertrucks everywhere now these young adults are loving them and now thinking anything else just looks super outdated. And other trucks just look dated now. Elon isn't the greatest personality but he really does do what he said he'd do.
