They will take your deposit and fine you and cut your power off no matter if you pay it then go hook it up.

What is the black lever on the back of the meter for?

ok so the Red Wire does Not allow power to get cutoff remotely so that a Tech would need to physically come to cut power off whereas the Blue Wire maintains the readout at a constant level so that a usage signal is Not sent to the Utility company - is that correct? Great Video BTW -Thank U !

I have emergency situation elderly person in my home and it’s very hot outside. I pulled the meter did it with black and white wires(I’m sure they change shit everyday) I heard the “click” figured I was good. Put the meter back on the printout started printing out stuff then in about 20 seconds I hear “CLICK!” So I guess now they have a way to stop you from doing this. Any advice or I need to move my mother for 24hrs till I get reconnect paid tomorrow

And how would you have access to the insides? The power company does not seal them with one of those anti tamper seals? To know if someone messed with the insides?

It's illegal to tamper with and electric meter in the 🇬🇧 UK. It's always the property of the supplier 😮

One of the reasons I do not trust these smart meters is that the supplier could alter measuring parameters such that the meter could register more kilowatts than you actually used by altering software/firmware remotely, I know they can alter prices, as many households use two tier pricing for charging electric cars overnight so you get cheaper tariff during off peak times, but then they hike day time prices, in other words they give you with one hand and take it back with another, so quite pointless having them and I will resist as much as I can to have my property fitted with it. As well as there is no way of you knowing if they have applied correct tariff if they made a human error.

Not only can they register more kilowatts - keep track on winter morning peak hour as you have a heater on but very little heat coming from it is because they turn the amps down which means you still get power but sweet notting for what you pay

Thanks. This helped an honest working man beaten down by circumstance keep warm tonight. Apparently $200 wasnt good enough to postpone my disconnect for 2 weeks. (next pay) Something has to be wrong in this house. went from 70-120 bills to one month went up to over 300. I'm not an electrician. My father was in the coal mines so i basically know how not to die around live wires. cables and boxes. lol (No electricity usage changed on my end either. Its baffled me if someone isn't tapped into me somewhere. Which for here is highly possible.)
