There is another reason why people say no to churchy things and that is because they sense the dissonance between that and what the Lord intends for the church to be.

@@nikeshsolanki829 I understand your point. We are by no means yolking anyone to be forced to serve every area even if they're not called and gifted in it. Pastor Tony is talking about people who intentionally say no to serving in or out of the church and give God their leftovers whenever they feel like it. I'd encourage you to listen to the entire sermon. Thanks for your comment!

That's a great question! God wants us to invest our time, talents, and treasure in His kingdom. Returning our tithe and giving offerings to God is important to God, in fact they're holy to the Lord scripture says, but there is much more blessing in store when we also give our talents and our time to Him and put Him at the top of our priorities in our life. God wants us to lay our treasure in Heaven by investing everything we have in His kingdom and not the world. I'd highly recommend watching the full sermon to get more insight into this. Thanks for your comment!

George and I, Helen, have been meditating on the New Testament words of Jesus to launch out into the deep. We needed to do that to start a new marriage at our age. Now George and I have left his denominational church of 22 plus 24 years to begin in a new non-denominational church start up two years old. It's been a difficult decision, leaving old friends and launching into something so new, but I believe the Lord is in it and we will have opportunity to disciple young believers which was not happening in the old church. Thanks for reinforcing the Lord's words to us.

hi pastor Tony. my father was a pastor, but you were my first pastor by my choice. you were the first to take me in and disciple me. i've had pastors since you but their teachings and insights were pale in comparison to you. i remember Antioch, in the old skating rink, playing bass guitar on the worship team. you through the work of the spirit freed me from some deeply held guilt that had developed into oppression. it changed me. i respected and valued you and your ministry with mischa. i don't remember why i stopped attending your church. it was 20 years ago, and i still can't remember. but i feel now that my leaving must have hurt you, after the special relationship we had formed in the lord. if i caused you bitterness, i completely understand, and i earnestly apologize for abandoning you and the ministry. i recently started watching your sermons here, and your heart hasn't changed, your message has stayed true. i am no longer a christian. but i admire you, and your consistency, and your devotion to the calling that god has placed on your life, for the people there. i'm sorry for hurting you. my life started falling apart and i left Arkansas and went back to my family in Connecticut. it continually fell apart until about 4 years ago when things turned for the better. i have been through a lot since then, and while i'm not in the faith, my life and hard work, deeply, painfully casting off all the hurt and depression and trauma, i'm doing well for the first time in decades. maybe ever. seeing you here and hearing your voice, the same voice that never gave up, i'm happy to see you doing well. beautiful church, music, ministry. i always want the best for you and your family. and thank you for the difference you made in my young, unresponsible life.
