Grand Prix Yannick, I see you comented below to Rollo's comment re: Rouen. Yes, Rouen was not on the 1967 championship calendar. But it did host the 1968 France GP as well as two grands prix in the 1950s and two grands prix earlier in the 1960s. American Dan Gurney won the 1962 race. It was historic because it was Porsche's only win as a constructor. Why did Papyrus include Rouen in the original game? Because the developer considered it to be more representative of a grand prix circuit of that time as opposed to Le Mans Bugatti, which, again from what I have read, was a one-off, 1967 only, because it was bland -- unpopular with real drivers. Rouen may also have been unpopular with drivers because that first downhill segment -- start/finish to Nouveau Monde Hairpin -- was DANGEROUS. (Jo Schlesser fatality occurred in that segment early in 1968 race.) In GPL, that entire lap challenges me as a sim driver. Just having fun here sharing opinion.

A typo in prior post. I forgot to put Spa at No. 2 on my top three. So top three for me, in order, Rouen, Spa and Nordschleife with a big THUMBS UP to Solitude add-on track, a "mini Nordschleife."
@JohnChester-e8w2 ай бұрын
Hello fellow GPL fans. My top three, in order, Rouen, Nurburgring Nordschleife. Rouen included in original GPL as the venue for France GP instead of Le Mans Bugatti. I view Rouen as a "mini Spa." (As with Spa, genius(es) recognized that public roads could be an amazing grand prix circuit.) The sequence of turns from start/finish downhill to the Nouveau Monde Hairpin just awesome. Nouveau Monde the Rouen equivalent of La Source at Spa. The reason I like Rouen slightly more than Spa is because I seem to have little or no "easy" time on a lap despite only a dozen or so corners. There is a right curve to the back straight. Again, genius(es) looked at public roads and concluded that could be a grand prix circuit. Yes, Spa has some awesome corners -- Eau Rouge/Raidillon, Burnenville, Malmedy, Stavelot and above all THE MASTA KINK. But I am able to get some rest ans relaxation time on the long straights. That's something I cannot do at Rouen. I also love the Nordschleife. And lastly, there is on add-on track that I love that hosted non-championship races in early 1960s -- Solitude in Germany. Located near Stuttgart, the home of Porsche. I view Solitude as a "mini Nordschleife." Just sharing my opinion. First purchased GPL around 2000 specifically because it includes Nordschleife and old Spa circuit. GPL is a game, despite its extreme difficulty, that I will enjoy for a lifetime.

I love how proper 1930s this track is. Right after you cross the start/finish to begin a new lap, you drive straight into a tree, barely passing it, jump trough the air like it was a Finnish rally stage, and land on some cobblestones that will break all of your tooth fillings and make your spine shake for the next 30 days.

@@Villoresi This section is near the village of Ostrovacice. You're probably right, as there was the largest spectator area around the whole circuit, the surface was made of concrete (unlike most of the track made of tarmac or cobble stones) and the shape of turns looks very unnatural.

Hello! My attempt for a 100% race is getting closer so I wanted to take a peek if someone else has tried it and of course you have, so here we are :D Thanks for the video, too bad some tyres fell off. Now a question: For BT7 I'm only able to fill the tank for 29 laps but the race length is 32. This sounds slightly problematic. Do you know anything about this issue? Also the AI cars are quite fast in qualifying, barely made it to top-10 but then in the race they seemed to be very slow and I was 3rd by the end of the first lap. Any tips on setting the difficulty? Currently the AI speed is set to 1.05 in GEM 🤔
@GrandPrixYannick5 ай бұрын
@TedMeat Hello, Ted! - Regarding the fuel tank, most of the time you consume less fuel than is estimated. Usually you have a couple of gallons extra in the tank by the end. If you know to apply some fuel saving techniques you should have no problem finishing. I think you might be able to do so without, but I cannot say with 100% certainty. - On the AI, I think it depends on the AI files you use. The best ones are from Pavel, which you should be able to find around SRMZ. I think you can still tweak the AI between qualifying and races. I'd try a few tests and see which speed works best for you. Just don't finish the race; you will have to re-do qualifying if you let it complete.
