For the benefit of those high school kids interested in this profession, there is rampant fallacy held by people including myself before I entered architecture school that architects are technical people in traditional STEM sense in addition to working with aesthetics but that is complete false. Architecture education in US is 99% humanities discipline i.e. art, history and english with virtually no science classes to receive a diploma. If one look past often grandiose declarations (particularly known) architects make about their profession, those most satisfied with their job tend to be dim witted science wise and university education is all amalgamation of art/history/english majors. I regret graduating with this pussy degree where architects office environment can be very petty & stifling. If you honor STEM, best to stay away. Cream does not necessarily rise to the top in this profession i.e. you have to be buffoonish and sell yourself. Also many so called known architects are not from best undergrad schools including this ding dong Foster fella. That should tell you something.

i dont agree with the part he said about the difference between chinese traditional architecture and japanese traditional architecture either. i think he only knows about the monument huge chinese traditional architecture like forbidden city but ignore that there are so many traditional temples and residential houses are designed with nature environment.we always think about 天which can be think as nature are the most important thing in our life.

সরকার has already spent more than US 5 Billions on flryover in the city of Dhaka alone. Which is total waste of money. যে সিটি টিতে থাকতো underground train, articulated hybrid busses ( cng + electric ), sky-scrapers commercial buildings, hi-rise residential buildings and so on. And of couse a lots of trees everywhere. Yes, it's a much better idea to build the airport above the river padman. We should not wait for Bangladeshi Gov to act according to our ideas. They only think about their own benefit. Please share this message with others and educate citizen of Bangladesh. They're spending Billions of dollars on flyovers but what would people of Dhaka get out of it? ** More flyover means more vehicles on the street. ** More vehicles mean more pollution. More vehicles generate more heat. Fewer vehicles mean less warm during the summer. Also, more vehicles mean more possibility for accidents. ** More pollution means more possible sickness. ** More sickness means spending more money towards doctors and medication. ** Spending more money for Doctor means less money for yourself ( No saving, Less money for children's education, no money for a vacation, no money for future ). If you have to spend less money toward doctor or medication that means more savings for you. ** We've to get rid of private cars and other vehicles that causing air pollution. Once we reduce petrol, diesel import we'll have more money to invest on other project such as producing electricity. ** We need lots of hybrids ( Electric and natural gas powered) powered articulated buses and small hybrid buses for relatively smaller streets. And electric trams where applicable. Underground transport service is a bad idea for a country like Bangladesh. WHY? I can go on and on giving you more reason why this underground rail project is a bad idea. I urge to people of Bangladesh that use your common sense Please Think!

I'm not entirely agree with what Mr Kuma said about the traditional Chinese architecture. Because in Chinese tradition, the architecture is considered a part of nature, it is integrated in nature. Traditional garden and vernacular houses in China represent the spirit of Chinese architecture. We do not deny some way Japan has inherited the traditional architectural philosophy of China.
@smileJoy100

This inspires and saddens me. My dream was to become a car designer. I planned on attending Art Center in pasadena CA in the Fall to pursue my dream. The reason this video makes me sad is the fact that i given up my dream because the school is too expensive for me to ever pay.
