Highly amusing commentary from some elite players and very smart people. I might need to listen again, since many comments go quickly and have good insight, such as 'Maybe the Banana Split is okay here because of the score '

The cold blooded decision of Falafel 6-10, doubles at 1:53:39 is impressive, the guy save a gammon and then evaluate if he can milk the cow in cow boy mode :)

You had asked how to get more women involved. There needs to be events held in smaller towns. For example, instead of Chicago, go to Aurora Illinois. Instead of St. Louis, go to Branson. The older female players that don't play in tournaments are lifelong housewives. The younger ones now days are not. Smaller cities will equal savings money wise and may attract younger females that play in their local clubs and maybe a few soccer moms. Plus have special speakers at women's colleges

Game 7 there is a prime that continue pass two corner of the board (after 2 consecutive 6-4 from Mochy :)) 1:21:54

somebody noticed that in game 3, Mochy get out of a 5 point board 4 (almost consecutive) time with a 5-3. It is a 9.525986892242035e-06 chance to do that...both guys are just incredible.

Hello everyone! How are you? You probably miss new stories about Mochy and Schiemann? In that case, I will tell you a new story. Are you ready? So, - Once upon a time, Schieman wrote his book about backgammon. But a problem arose: neither the participants of tournaments in Germany, nor the spectators, nor even the workers servicing the gaming hall wanted to buy it, even for 5 euros. Schieman approached his colleague on the German national team, Schwartz. He wanted advice on what he should do to sell the book better. Schieman asked Schwartz: "Tell me, have you read my book that I gave you?" - "Yes, when the flight was delayed at the airport," answered Schwartz. - "In that case, advise me what should be done so that the book is sold in Germany for at least 5 euros?" asked Schieman. Schwartz sat and scratched his head for a long time, and then suggested: "Schieman, bring all your books (waste paper) to my house, and I will sell everything." There was a pause during which Schieman tried to figure out how Schwartz would be able to sell at least one of his books. But since he had no choice, Schieman brought the entire print run of his books to Schwartz's house and left them there. A couple of months passed, and Schieman arrived at the international backgammon tournament with Mochy to register for participation. However, a huge crowd of players (several hundred people) was gathered near the registration desk. Someone was shouting something into a loudspeaker, in response to which the crowd applauded enthusiastically. Schieman stood in line and suddenly recognized the voice of Schwartz in the speaker, who was shouting: "Come on, don't miss your chance! Only today, Mochy's personal autograph for 10 euros!" Schieman made his way through the crowd of people wanting an autograph and saw a mountain of his books, on which Schwartz was standing with a loudspeaker and accepting money (euros). Mochy was sitting next to him on his books. He pulled books out from under his butt and signed autographs on the page of Shiman's book where the chapter was called "My best match when I almost beat Mochy."😄

No idea why Tiran didn't double at the start of the next to last game. Position was close, Mochy would have taken, and he wouldn't have to win yet another game.

3:12:45 10 away crawford = 4%, 2 away 3 away = 60% - correct. But c'mon people, you should all know this: at these scores (take and lose loses match) you _divide the one by the other_ . You absolutely _Must know that_ . 4%/.6 = 6 2/3% take point.

5:11:10 'On these lopsided scores when there's no gammons your take point goes down to 18 percent or so'... Stop spouting b.s., Fogerlund. 18% is only at one score (5a 2a) and only with no gammons at all, and this ain't it. With the gammons in play here, take point is at least 27%. Take point math is straightforward whenever one player is within 2, but no one bothers to learn it. Your loss.

i just got into backgammon recently. i already knew the basic a little. but i wanna ask, what was the black cube on the right use for? and why they dont end the game with all the checkers bear off the board?
@paradigmshift46862 ай бұрын
Cube is the doubling cube, which doubles the values of a game each time it is given and accepted. The opponent can decide to refuse and immediately resign the game and give the score to the opponent. The doubling cube accounts for about half the strategy of tournament level/professional backgammon. The reason the game is often stopped without removing all the checkers is because the player calculates that no series of rolls (including all double 6s for him and all 2-1 (lowest roll) for his opponent) will change the result i.e. there is no possible way to win.

Confusion about starting positions after shuffling checkers can be eliminated with the touch move rule: After making a legal move with a checker, one cannot move it back to its original position.
