In Greg’s autobiography he said Betts always had his volume too high. This recording is a good example.

I think this is one of Warren Hayne's earliest gigs with them. I saw them the next year at the JVC Jazz festival in Lincoln Center where they made their US debut with the restored band.

Dickie always played clean and to the best of my knowledge no special effects other than some focused raw amp distortion. Same for Warren.

Gotta love the unspoken but very real language @6:58 between Jaimoe and Butch! Meanwhile the Conga player adds a new level of percussion...does anyone know who he is?

They scored big when Dickey brought in Warren from Dickey's band, such an epic voice and when he rips on that neck pickup, magic

Starting out with a Betts solo that kicks and then a solo with 3 freaking drummers. Oh man.

How did Betts not lose his hearing? He destroyed both Haynes and Pearson's eardrums...

Dickey Betts was every bit as good if not BETTER than Clapton, Beck or Page, but I guess when you cut your teeth with Duane Allman.... nuff said.
