I have the same kx40 and new cutter, when it is spooled up all the way with no load on it basically not cutting or using any other function it vibrates the cab substantially, does that happen to you? I’m wondering if the cutter could be out of balance??
@Bellevue.Lm.318Күн бұрын
@@joerogan8723 sounds like you might have something wrong. Mine runs smooth. Might check and make sure you blade aren’t hitting the inside of the mower. Might was barely hitting the front edge when I first got it, and it had a bad vibration, had to beat on it with a hammer to make the blade clear

I’m addicted to watching these “mulching” channels as I’ve been running this equipment my entire life and I always love to learn from others. That said, the dude running this mini is an absolute G! He’s got mad skills with his boom control and the way he leads the cutting head. Very impressive!🫡🫡

You can but it slows the cutter way down. I usually only do it when I’m mowing smaller brush, grass, pond weeds, etc.

Great video - does it ever feel tippy with the boom extended out mowing these pond banks like that? Do you feel the KX 040-4 can sufficiently run that attachment? Or do you feel it lacking and sometimes with for the 57? i'm in-between machines and curious on your perspective
@Bellevue.Lm.3184 ай бұрын
It’s pretty stable as long as you keep your movements smooth. The 040 does fine but I’d rather have the 57. I only got the 040 cause I can haul it in my dump trailer when I need to. It has plenty of power to run the cutter, it would be nice to have just a little bit more reach though. There’s a lot of situations where I’m just about a foot short on being able to reach something, the 57 would fill that gap

Is this the light 500# cutter? Probably not but it’s good to know that you won’t totally destroy that gear head if you hit a big tree with the heavier or lighter cutter. That head and that 40 looks like they both can take some abuse.

Do you ever wish you bought a flail mower instead? I can’t decide between this and a flail for my Kx040
@Bellevue.Lm.3187 ай бұрын
I was interested in a flail, but after watching tons of videos, I just don’t see an advantage of a flail for the type of jobs I do. I think the flail would be nice if you mainly cut grass and 1.5” diameter or smaller trees, or if you work around residential areas you would want a flail since the discharge is more directional. But I don’t think I would even consider getting a flail now that you can buy an actual forestry head from vmc for the same price as a flail

This design works great for raking up debris that laying on the ground, but for the kind of work I’m doing in this video, some longer tines would work a lot better to rip out the roots
