I contacted ecowitt and asked them if this display (model WS3800_C Wi-Fi Con) Can show data all the time without sleep and connect to Wi-Fi and upload data only using the battery without an AC adapter? They replayed: Hi dear, Only with an AC adapter, it can show data all the time and connect to Wi-Fi, and upload data. When only using the battery, it can't connect to Wi-Fi.

Hi, then you needn't the IOT gateway if you have this console.

​@@mr_mysterious_6174 Hi , this console can display Sorlar/UV data ,it depends on which sensor or sensor array connect to. The WS85 has no these functions, so they won't be displayed on console.

I have to say I am very impressed, it has maintained connection flawlessly. Data compares favrourably too, wind speeds are close to other stations. I actually prefer this to the tempest. UV appears a little high but aside from that, very impressed. I have linked it to one of the Ecowitt monitor screens which updates information quite rapidly too.

I'm actually not sure about that, i'll look into it... I probably won't need it as a function and have wrapped the wire around the mast for now.

Yes you can, either via the ecowitt website to which your station uploads, or in my case I often use Wunderground for uploads and to check historical data (for all parameters of the weather station). Feel free to also check out our review of the Ecowitt Wittboy weather station with ultrasonic anemometer.

The hub connects via WiFi which uploads data to the ecowitt website which you can then log onto to view historical data. I believe this goes back for years if needed. If you purchase one of the compatible consoles, I think this data can be saved onto memory stick on the console too, graphically and in a table format. Thanks for your question.

It is really reliable so far. No signal dropouts, good range, no interence and a reasonable update speed for the various measurements. Glad you are enjoying yours too!

So far so good, battery strength and signal strength are all holding their own, no drop-outs on the older hub but I am going to try the newer hub later to see if the previous dropouts were just one-offs. I'll do a tempest vs wittboy comparison review too. Thanks for your comment!

Hi, yes I know the feeling - every other spade-full was flint! It was hard going to be honest, I ended up buying an auger and still only managed to get about 2/3rds down. This was plenty to chill the cans though, it just meant a bit of the tube remained above the ground level. Good luck if you decide to get one though - it is a very cool feature to be able to lift out chilled cans in the middle of a veggie patch etc!

Hi, that's strange to hear, sounds like it could be a battery compartment problem, in terms of the batteries themselves are they rated for cold conditions, eg lithiums? Have you double checked the battery terminals incase of corrosion etc? Other than that maybe contact Davis for advice? Cheers and good luck!

Hi, thanks for asking, it has performed extremely reliably throughout, not dropping connection once, even when it fell off the top of the mounting pole due to my poor DIY skills! The only query I have is how accurate the wind speeds are as it seems to be recording slightly lower when comparing to my other weather stations despite being mounted at a similar height. All other readings seem to be very close. Some people have found that vibrations from wind can trigger the haptic rain sensor but I have never had that issue, the pole is quite sturdy (except the top part when it fell off!). The voltage holds up quite well although after a series of gloomy days it does occasionally drop into power saving mode which limits the data updating frequency. All in all, very impressed for such a compact unit! Are you thinking of buying / comparing to other stations?

Hi, thanks for your question. No, this particular model is solar powered and transmits wirelessly to a gateway which then also transmits wirelessly to your home router. The information is then uploaded to a mobile app, i.e. no indoor console (although this can be purchased seperately if needed).

@@PubSheds It doesnt require any energy to do that processing ? Looks like the mining version of that the watherxm is exactly the same.

@@darkevilpt5306 I haven't seen that, i'll take a look. The main instrument unit has a built in capacitor for night time and then charges up from the solar. The gateway plugs in to a USB adaptor.
