R.I.P. Timothy Dudley-Smith, former Bishop of Thetford (26 December 1926 - 12 August 2024), who wrote this iconic hymn back in 1962. He sadly passed away this morning aged 97. A life well lived in the service of the Anglican Church.

@@markandtracypace These days card issuers are on the alert for any unusual spending behaviour, and transactions with foreign companies are high on their list. Rather than complete a risky transaction they will flag it with a “do not process” marker which will prevent the transaction happening no matter how many times you try. They will only allow the transaction through once they have confirmed with you that it is genuine. They will not usually contact you, so you must call the number shown on the rear of your card and speak to their fraud prevention team, who will remove the block once you have verified the transaction is legitimate. Inconvenient, but a reality we must live with, I’m afraid. Sorry. Philip

I enjoy my Silver Shadow II: in our disposable world it's a lovely thing in spite of its generic American mid-size shape and position as the motor for thick-armed nouveau-toffs. It politely radiates quaint and tasteful Conservatism in a way that the modern RR vulgarities are designed to eschew.

I don't like what they've done with that steering wheel of that blue Rolls that that white haired man was driving. I despise today's fat steering wheels, with their emphasis on utility & performance, as if every vehicle were a race entry or something. As a matter of fact, I despise MOST of today's designs! They are completely VOID of any distinction, whatsoever! On the upside, I'm not at all encouraged to go out and buy one of these utility style wheelbarrows! If I wanted to be common, that would certainly, be easily accomplished, simply, by driving any one of these modern heaps.

I remember singing this with my collage choir freshman year, this song got me through a terrible time and i remember weeping in rehearsals whenever we sang this song because the music spoke to my soul. This is true worship, and when I managed to compose myself to sing again my director gave me the descant, my first solo in college. Beautiful work, makes me tear up to this day.

I heard this sung at 11AM mass at Sacred Heart parish in Lombard, Illinois. This blew me away. It made me tear up. I love this music and what it says. God bless the composer. The music directory was Daniel Pollack. The choir was amazing. The reverberation off of the hard walls of that beautiful church was stunning.
