Clay!!! Thank you so much for covering this! You included several aspects I haven’t considered before in selecting shoes. I’m a small lighter person and mostly hike and jog on easier nature trails. The features of my shoes have become much more important in the past year due to a severe injury. My favorite shoes so far have been my Brooks Adrenalin and Glycerin. Staying with the same brand for a while has really helped me notice the difference in the performance of each shoe. I’m open to trying new types and needed to know what I should be looking for while shopping. I started my trail hikes for exercise, and it has turned into my non-negotiable time. It’s spiritual for me now. Thank you so much for giving me good points to think about in my shoe hunt! ❤

Great to see folks on the other side of 50 getting into climbing and sports in general! Would love to see my dad doing the same as you, keep it up!

Thanks for relaying that info. This is why I started this channel, in hopes that it will inspire middle aged people to keep moving! And anyone for that matter!

That is a gnarly injury! I never liked the word never. Great points here. I’d add to keep those joints lubricated and electrolyte packets are great. I’m not a runner but would like your opinion on shoes. I hike in the woods several times a week. Cushy shoes save my knees and back but aren’t as stable as I need to keep my ankles steady (one broken a year ago). I think cross trainers would be better but am worried they won’t provide enough shock absorption. Can you make a video about footwear? I’m sure you’ve tried it all.

Thanks for the comments! Yes, electrolyte pacs are gold. It is definitely on the books to create a shoe video, soon!
