I am 2 years into painting, with no previous experience of it. I am still experimenting and trying new things, so my consistency is still changing-I have about 3 different styles I love. I do understand its important to have a style, but Gerhard Richter has several styles, at least thats what I tell myself! LOL Thanks for your videos.

I love the way you placed ideas in the sketchbook at the end! it looks like a mini gallery and I can actually see the painting from a better perspective. Beautiful abstracts! 😍🙌🏾

I am so loving these 'hiking' and sporty figures, amazing how a drag or blob of paint, ink or crayon can look so detailed. Haven't been able to watch your videos for a while, when I do I am always excited by your exploration and freedom, and not making your work rigid or stiff. Thank you for sharing your stories Orla, love the picture resulting from sleeping on the frozen bog.

Thank you so much for sharing, it's so inspiring! I think one of my main goals is to start working on larger substrates and get out of my sketchbooks a little bit, also I want to learn printing techniques, starting with something easier like a gelli plate and then probably learning more about linocuts!

Thank you so much for sharing, like always, your inner thoughts and also the booklets. I am a no planner, because I have learned the hard way, thar life happens every second and you can't control it. I really wish you happy everyday in 2025 and please don't be so rigid with yourself. Your art is beautiful and for me full of your own true, let go of perfection and embrace the weirdo in you, after all we are all light and dark and we have to connect with the contrasts to became full and truly one.

Hello Orla, this popped up this morning while having my breakfast. I can see l "liked" it when l first watched it. I am keen to start intruducing figures in my drawings/ sketchbooks. I used to avoid people when taking photos of which l have thousands. But a photographer l follow takes some amazing shots with one or two people at a distance, now l do the same with his encouragement. People give a differnt meaning and perspective to a landscape., and l see that in your drawings and paintings. SO.... thats my challenge. I love seeing people from behind, or sat in small groups or alone at a cafe table.......Thank you for sharing your knowledge and work.....Alioban ❤

This is such a nice video, really love the reflections books too. I have been watching a bunch of videos and would love to start painting more on 2025. Unfortunately I don’t have a lot of table space to work and love how you work on the floor! Reminds me of making art as a kid ❤ can I ask what sort of rug/mat you use to protect your floor? I would love to be a bit more messy when I work

Very interesting video Orla, thank you! I instantly went off to print out the booklets and I'm going to be using them soon. I'd love to see your art in a zine or yearly calendar sometime in the future (and pleeease also as a download which makes it so much more accessible for non-UK residents). Wish you very nice holidays and MERRY CHRIIISTMAAS!!

As always, so so beautiful, Orla. And may I say you’re by far my favorite KZbinr in terms of voice overs. I’m sure it’s so much work and so I wanted to point it out. From how you say it to what you say, you leave me feeling better about myself as an artist and human in general. Thank you so much and happy holidays! May 2025 be good to you! I’ll be watching.

Hello Orla I've come to never miss one of your videos. Thank you for sharing and taking the time. I'm part of a similar workshop this year again: looking back over 2024 and opening up to the energy of the year coming. We make our own booklets, and yours inspire me (I can't seem to see the pdfs in the description though). I've put one of your print works on my wishlist... We shall see what Christmas brings... :) To say it shortly: THANK YOU. All the best from France Camille

yr shares resonate in my heart... similar to justine lecomte, from a diff creative practice w/ similar ethics & values ... this has been a mixed media year, many tools practiced with joy the main incentive... this has helped me deal w/mundane issues in creative ways, usually unplanned yet related to yr focus on collaboration outside the usual boxes, personally & digitally. Ty orla for yr voice.

LOVE your work!!! Your use of colours, textures, mark making and different materials….SO YUMMY! 😍 Really loved your working over previous work 🤩 Love the contrast between yummy colours and the darks…SO DYNAMIC….really excites my eyes and feelings. LOVE the way you draw your figures but don’t enjoy them in the landscapes so much. I think your landscapes say enough on their own ( SO GORGEOUS) and the figures seem to over complicate them. However I did like the first one you did….thought that worked really well. You are such an inspiration 🙏 Thank you for sharing ❤️❤️❤️

Orla, I saw your little taped pictures and wanted to share with you a good trick for getting them to stay put. I find if I put two tabs at top of page with tape and flip it over and reienf9rce the tape with smaller tape squares on back it helps front tape stick better to paper, and somehow it helps papers stay stuck to wall longer, like all the tape works together better. This may not make sense. But, allows me to stick watercolor paintings to my wall that are 18inches by 22 inches. Without falling down.

It definitely resonated with me! And inspired me! I love the way you paint, as you describe it based on your experience and feelings. I always felt I see the world differently, but instead of embracing that uniqueness, I always tried to compare myself with others to normalize myself! Such a meaningless thing to my own glossary, if I want to be honest. Btw, I get inspired to explore more of myself and to admit that I don't know how to be someone else, in a brave and honest way.

I haven't done much painting since my boyfriend passed away in May 2024. I'm watching your videos because I always feel like as a beginner my work is not good enough. Which stops me from painting. But seeing your sketchbooks I feel inspired. I realise that everyone has their own style of painting. There is no such thing as a bad painting. Our work just differs from person to person. Thankyou for sharing your work it has helped me a lot.
