When you pull over the engine it is making that teethy sound because on you recoil there is a black wire going into it with a white plastic bolt/nut, if you a-just that cable it will solve your problem

back in 2007 i purchased a 50 hp etec to replace a 40 hp mercury force. Top end speed was 32 mph for a 16 foot pro v spectrum. The difference between the two motors was unreal. I had to sell the boat because of being laid off for a year. I have just found the same boat only a 1995 & it has the crappy 40 hp mercury force on it. Only thing from keeping me buying it because I would have to put the 50 hp etec on it.

i was reading that meter is only hooked up to temperature and that warning sound on 70 hp and less.

Could you tell what prop were you using (3-4 blades, dia, pitch). Hope you remember :)
