I have quit using any cards - I have friends who, as merchants selling gasoline, food, etc tell me their biggest monthly expense is sending payments to the banks running this scam.Trans act "swipe fees" is a major complaint with merchants. Average retailer pays approx $3,000 - 5,000 every month. It's a HUGE ripoff / scam. I've gone round and round with senators / congressmen sending letters of complaint on this....they will not attempt to fix this. Our government has been bought out by the banks (who take in roughly $80 Billion each year as "transact swipe fees"). The US has by far, the very highest transact swipe fees in the world....something to think about each time you "swipe" your card at the local gas station. They don't call it "swipe fees" for nothing! Additionally, card companies track you everytime you "swipe" your card - they know everything you buy - everywhere you've been - everything! This information is also sold to third parties, etc. You lose your privacy when you use cards. It would be in your best interest to quit using cards - they cost you much more than you think. Write senators / congressmen and ask them to at the very least, require transact swipe fees to be assessed (shown) everytime a purchase is made so consumers become aware of the ACTUAL COST in using cards.(Cost of transact swipe fees by all merchants are presently hidden in the pricing of goods / services you buy). The banks have been VERY SLICK in crafting this scheme. You are going to think that if fees are printed on sales slip with each purchase that you are being charged "extra" (the banks know and use this "fear") but you won't because the price of goods / services purchased will reflect lower costs by merchants who no longer send monthly payments (that you never see or are aware of). Very slick hidden - just like the banks want it. Transact swipe fees add approx 12 - 15 cents to each gallon of gasoline / fuel you buy. Hidden card transact swipe fees.....probably the biggest con in US history....
