This scene doesn't really face the reality check. Come now, it is known that Norwegians are very fluent in English, imagine that their Arctic science team doesn't know a single word in English, absolutely impossible! But then again, the year is 1982, maybe this scene provoked them to learn Engreshuh?

I'm Norwegian and if someone just showed me this clip without the sub, I wouldn't know what he said and wouldn't even realize it was Norwegian.. But at like.. Third listen, I think I'm getting what he's saying.. "Det er ikke virkelig", that's some Google Translate translation, if I've ever heard one..

Funny how people think that if they understood him, they’d be able to stop all the mess that happened. If I did not know about the Thing, I would assume he was just a crazy guy who wants to kill the dog. There are guys like that here in the city who did drugs or just have attitude problems.

@@sebastian0107the attempt to cover the memory of Nazism with cloying superficial music. Note there are no more “flashes” post the fall of the Berlin Wall - the point at which Germany finally left the shadow of WW2. I’m not that tone deaf. We’ll disagree.
@sebastian0107Ай бұрын
@@thatscousedude Respectfully. I think you're overthinking it. In my opinion the idea for this song came about when they watched one of these lavish Schlager-Shows on German TV. They are hilarious, and not much changed in their formula over the last 40 years. PSB made their own video for the song; it covers every German Cliché you can think of.

Going from a jaunty triumphal march for the overture to the creepy horror waltz of the main theme is a kind of tonal whiplash that somehow perfectly encapsulates the strangeness of this movie.
