OK--yes, I can tell you why some people think terviseks sounds funny. You can understand it better if you think like a 14-year old boy and focus on the final syllable. When you do that, terviseks becomes tervy sex, which becomes pervy sex in English. So someone who speaks English will hear it in terms of English words (pervy sex) rather than as Estonian words.

2025 I am half Czech. All my ancestors came from Bohemia in the 1880’s to Chicago. They dumped the language to be “Americans” I love learning this! Thank you!

0:57 a huge mistake, Hamburg is NOT a Free Hanseatic City, but a Free AND Hanseatic City (the only one in the world). Bremen is indeed "only" a Free Hanseatic City.

The tile museum was my favorite in Lisbon. It was less than 10 euro to enter. The best thing about Lisbon by far is the ability to very easily take a bus, train or trolley anywhere and everywhere!

Very cool language! Found similarities with my native Russian (not surprisingly) mjenjačnica really made me smile (there is no chance in hell an English speaking person would pronounce this tongue-twister), as no Russian speaker would pronounce "trg", even though torgovat' (to trade) sounds like it's sharing a root with trg. It feels like you guys are conserving the vowels :) which is very refreshing!! Thank you for the video!

You are the first person I've heard on youtube who sounds like a native English speaker rather than someone with a Slavic accent. I ha a question about prosim. I have always pronounced it with a short i at the end and find it surprising that you have a "čárka" on the letter i. Are you certain that that is correct? ( I checked with my Czech teacher - and you are correct). Another must have word in the Czech language before one visits, is of course - Pivo!
@JayWayTravel9 күн бұрын
Thanks @1DrBr BTW if you're ordering more than one beer at a time it's important to learn how 'pivo' is pluralised: Jedno pivo, dvě piva, tři piva, čtyři piva, but... pět piv (it's piv from 5 to infinity ;) ).
