Ran like a three legged dog at first ,but once it got going super smooth , think the secret is 460 steam oil I use that in all

Thank you John was bit of a right off but had some tlc ,and it's a survivor ,I have never seen the engine this way around either but it does make more sense as a marine unit

Spare parts are difficult to come buy , you can use any burner that fits ,and it will take a mamod safety valve and whistle

Yes Halfords Ford Highland green is a great match ,I like to leave original paint if I can but the base wasn't salvageable on this one

A perfect example of a great engine. IMHO the "Luton Bowmans" are the equal of Mamods, if not better.

No they were both very dirty when I got them so cleaned ,painted firebox and oiled them .

Nice refurb, I had also added an oil cup on the steam chest of mine recently - great minds think alike? It's a much more efficient way to keep the piston & cylinder lubed

The Russians still have large stockpiles of old T34s and even old .44 magnums from the Tsar era, since its Russian military policy to hold on to everything in working condition since they ran into major shortages in ww1 and ww2
