CBT IS manipulation, and simply takes advantage of those who are unable to self-reflect properly and lack critical thinking skills. Its professionally trained gaslighting. Its also cold and algorithmic, reducing humans to numbers and removes the humanity and understanding elements of therapy. L

If you are referring with Talk Therapy even to Person Centered Therapy, maybe you should give a look at some Carl Rogers' sessions. They don't look like having an haircut. They are highly processing, engaging and emotional.

I wonder if part of it may be illuminated for some clients by investigating their past experiences with all those sorts of providers listed that they had in the past .. transference happens in both directions, and perhaps this "difficult" client was unlucky enough to chance upon a provider, well meaning, but going through their own difficult time, and there was some (negative) transferance - undiscovered by both parties - from provider onto client in the past. Unresolved, this would make it hard to start anew.. I think, as in many things, the answer is "get curious" rather than assuming much based on this client's past efforts.. after all if s/he was willing to give it another go, in spite of past attempts not working, the least we can do as practitioners is be curious and extend the benefit of the doubt ..

This video proved to me exactly what CBT seems to be; A human training programme for dumb sociopaths who've so far coasted through their entire life with the cognitive skills and abilities of a small child, and thus the moment they face a single point of adversity must be taught how to actually function as a rational adult in human society.

You wrote excellent books, about cognitive behavior therapy. This field is huge. When we talk about suicides, we have specifics fields. Trauma caused depressions happening in childhood, young adults and adults. Many persons suffer and even commit suicides for such bad experiences. Others are major depressions persons suffering suffering lives. I think Cbt should be specific regarding which condition we are dealing. First all major depressions patient need pro help yesterday. Familiars have to learn about depression to help needed relatives. Illegal drug abuses are destroying societies and is a critical field also needed explaining. Gilbert book about depression is excellent, is a fine 500 pages book. Very best wishes.

From what I know, Freud did cocaine. Cocaine gives paranoia. What are the chances that He tought that the unconscious has to be analyzed just because He was paranoid and his toughts scared him?

Look. I appreciate your bussiness. Hat off to Dr. Beck. First you have to fight stress. There are cases when the person is drown in debt. Doesnt have money to pay rent, buy food for him for his children, owe money, etc. For many depressives money problems is like having an anaconda around your body, squeezing. For normals, debts are very bad. But for depressive, is three times worst. So family or whomever have to help that guy getting that anaconda off him. My wifes brother in law shot himself because of that. Left one wife and two children.
