Your so vain wasn’t written about James but about other men. The land in Martha’s Vineyard was bought before they married for that was his childhood town in which he loved very much. Carly’s family was also from there so it is hard for him to live there where people see him as the bad guy. Carly was abused as a child which helped lead to her stuttering and likely stage fright. James develops music in a very quiet systematic manner and preforms that way as well. Carly loves chaos it helps her not be afraid on stage. They are very complicated different people and neither deserves to be the bad guy because it didn’t work out. I think James could have easily told the world about Carly’s problems but took the blame and added it to the already staggering mental stress he had.🙏💕

As someone who’s obsessed with Garfield, I must thank you for this piece of art. This musical was on my watch-list for a while and I’m glad I found time to actually watch it. Not only characters are deep and realistic, their individual arcs feel human and rooted in musical’s reality. Sad to see this production hasn’t become a big thing in Garfield fanbase, but be assured, this musical will be on my halloween annual rewatch. Wish everybody good luck, especially knowing Wifey released new album not so long ago! P.S. Wifey - Teddy’s and Carly’s band, check em out if you liked music in this one
